View Full Version : Problem capturing audio via firewire..

I just recorded some stuff today on my canon zr45, and although there's a lot of blockyness (it was a day at the racetrack, guess the bumpiness screws with this camera) everything plays back fine on the camcorder...

When I try capturing it however (with either DVIO or window's built in software) it captures just fine, but when I play it back there's video but absolutely no audio :(

I had this problem a while back (a year ago? not sure, its been a while since I used this thing) and somehow fixed it, but I guess I forgot and can't find a solution to this problem right now..does anyone know what this problem could be?

Which player did you use for playback?
Did you capture type-1 or type-2?

Sorry about the really late reply (had a major project due last night, so i've basically just been busy as hell);

Anyway, i'm dealing with type-1..i'm using DVIO to capture, and i'm using mplayer2 (media player 6.x) to play the file back. I spent the last 30mins googling away, and saw that this was a rather common problem, yet I couldn't find any relevent solutions (odd) :(

My zr45 is set to record audio at 16bits..I still have an old uncompressed dv-avi file lying on my harddrive, and it shows that the captured file had 16bit pcm audio, so i dunno what the deal is...

I suggest you convert your type-1 files to type-2 using one of the converters from the "Links" sticky thread, and try again. Maybe there's something wrong with your DV DirectShow filter.

it could be that...i got and installed Pinnacle Studio earlier this morning and tried getting the video through that, and it worked just fine :)

thanks for trying bb, i appreciate it =)
