Sorry for the delayed feedback, here are 2 screenshots, one from dvd-rb and other from vobedit.

Hope this helps.
edit: forgot to say that the process went like before the fix, dvd-rb didn't remove the lpcm track and final size was accurate.

That's an error with the CCE 2.5 version "circulating" the net. Find a CRC patch for it or use a newer version.

ok, finally I've continue the encoding and I had a DVDRB error: "buffer overflow .. #0004"
but may be it's due to the bad encoding of one file due to the precedent error.

Hello Jdobbs,
Thanks for the suggestions. I will try them right away...

I just made a backup of R1 Stargate SG-1 Season 4 Disk 1 and it came out 4.32 GB. I left out director's comments soundrack. I also have TargetSectors=2297888 in the ini file. Version of DVD-RB 0.41 with Dynamic Cell bitrates checked on. CnemaCraft version is 2.67.00.23.

Like mentioned here before, 4.32GB isnt really to be considered undersizing. Although the "dvdshrink" size of 4.36 might feel (and only feel) better, trying to aim for exactly 4489MB isnt really realistic. Why dont you use that extra space to store scans of the cover and label images at 600dpi or something to make use of the "slack".

I really don't think I'd call that undersized... that's exactly the size I was aiming for (to make room for sizing errors). But if you're feeling slighted -- raise the target.

DVD-R 0.41
ReJig 0.5e
Run-time error 9
During the rebuild process at about 2% there is a Run-time error 9. I am trying to back up the movie 28 Days Later. It has not worked with any version of DVD-RB.
Also a suggestion, DVD Decrypter puts the VIDEO_TS as a subfolder. It would be nice if when browsing for the source path you could select the parent and DVD-RB would look to see if the VIDEO_TS folder was inside.
Thanks!

The R1 version of that disc, while not exaclty seamless branching, does have duplicate PGCs. I'm not sure if DVD-RB can handle them, if they are present on the R2 version.
The feature using the duplicate PGC is the select commentaries by Knightley and Davenport and the producer Bruckheimer. In addition to that it has a weird IFO layout, in that the audio track for those commentaries are not present in the main movie PCG, but only if you select them thru their specific PGCs. DIF4U and DVD Decrypter miss(ed) them by default, which caused problems. Search the Big3 subforum for more details.

Again, I would try to reauthor the DVD with DVD-Shrink and then encode it with DVD-RB.

JDobbs I don't know if 0.41 was supposed to fix all 0004 errors or just the ones that occured right at the begining but I am still getting it. I think my 0004 error for the X2 DVD happens on the m2v file were the layer break occurs.
Thanks for all the hard work

B No. All the 0004 errors are definitely not gone. I am working that fix right now. It's not a mystery, I know what is happening, but it takes some time and thought to do it right.

I have set the TargetSectors=2300000 and still the backup came out the same size - 4.32 GB. Is this the parameter that controls the final size? Does it matter where in the [Options] the line is placed?

TargetSectors isnt valid anymore I dont believe. Now you need to use CCETargetSectors, RejigTargetSectors, etc.
I could be wrong but I think each encoder can have their respective sizes specified.

The readme says - Removed "TargetSectors=" value and replaced it with one for each of the three
encoders. Now use one or more of "CCETargetSectors=", "ReJigTargetSectors=", and
"QuEncTargetSectors=" -- please note that "TargetSectors=" will still work, but
any of the encoder specific settings will override it for that encoder.
So it says "removed", but then explicitly says it should still work, so it should still work.

Djuby Yes it is still valid as the "general" target size parameter -- but if you enter a parameter for any of individual encoders (e.g. CCETargetSectors) it will override the "general" setting.

Great! :)
I got my first problem with DVD-RB last night. I was backuping the dvd nš4 (only extras) of the LOTR: Two Towers extended edition.
I was using:
DVD-RB:0.41
EclCCE 1.81
Encode done with CCE 2.67.00.23, with multiple pause/continues in the encode, but didn't got any problems here.
Then, in the rebuild fase, i got the 0004 (DVD-RB buffer overflow, i think) at 53,5 %
But i will wait patiently that a new version comes out. I have every confidence in your wonderfull work :)

Serious problem. Anyone else that has this problem? Maybe not the first you think of...
1. DVD-R Version: 0.43b (Had the same problem with earlier versions...)
2. Encoder being used: CCE SP 2.67
3. Using eclCCE? Y
4. Bug encountered: The subtitles doesnīt show on my standalone dvdplayer. The options are there, I can choose english, swedish, hungarian or whatever the choises are, but they doesnīt show. In PowerDVD on my computer everything works fine, but as I said, not on my standalone player. With all other encoder/transcoder software it works so I guess it unfortunaltly has to do with DvdReBuilder... My standalone is a Samsung DVD-811.
Suggestions?

bug report:
i haven't seen anyone mentioning this bug, yet, but it should be a quick fixing exercise for "da man:" :D
1. DVD-RB 0.44
2. encoder: quenc 0.45
3. bug: whether i check or uncheck "trellis quantization" under "options > quenc options > trellis quantization," quenc ALWAYS has it activated. i stumbled over this issue when i wanted to test the speed difference between the two options. currently, it takes me about 12 (TWELVE!) hours with quenc to encode a 2 hr movie (at only around 11 frames/sec on a 3.2 ghz p4 with hyperthreading activated)!!!
maybe i need to reboot the system and start from fresh once in while ;). another interesting phenomenon: after playing around with quenc's "restore" and "minimize window" buttons (at the upper right corner of the window) for several times (er, no, it's "many" times) during the encoding process, ALL my desktop icons suddenly disappear! this actually has happened sporadically before. of course, you could say "don't play with this button then" ;), but sometimes i just get too impatient about the slow encoding process and want to know the status of it. could be a display driver-related issue, though. currently using an ATI AIW 9800 Pro with Catalyst 4.4.

DA Okay... here's the problem. QuEncode remembers it's last setting for Trellis when it executes. So when it gets turned on with the command line option (which DVD-RB uses) it stays turned on. That's because there is no command line option to turn it off in DVD-RB. In order to turn it off you have to:
1. Start DVD-RB and uncheck the option.
2. Open up QuEncode by itself and unclick the trellis option
3. exit both.
The same holds true for all the QuEnc options... once they are set, they can only be reset from within QuEnc.
It will stay until the next time you run QUENC with trellis checked. Then you have to do this again. I'll ask NIC if he can put a noTrellis, no2, and noKVCD option.

aaah, thanks for the tip and quick response! just like i said: a quick fixing exercise for "da man" ;).
i used to be able to "quenc" with 25+ fps, and just out of curiosity activated kvcd AND trellis quant! now it's understandable why my machine is so slow since then even after rebooting and resetting DVD-RB

Just thought I'd add my two cents on the 'subs on standalones' problem- I'm experiencing the same thing on my (NTSC) Samsung DVD-S222; backing up Kill Bill Vol. 1, keeping everything except French audio, and using half D-1 for extras. Perhaps its a Samsung issue? PowerDVD (file mode) plays the subs fine, same for the DVD-R. If I look at the .IFO's in IFOEdit, I notice that the subs for the main movie aren't flagged as forced, which I'm pretty sure they should be, since they're used in this R1 version for the Japanese language dialogue only- I may try setting them that way and reburn or ISO-mount later today, and report back.
Using:
DVD Rebuilder 0.44
CCE 2.66sp/ECLCCE 1.8
MPEG2DEC3dg/DVD2AVIdg
AVISynth 2.5
Sonic RecordNow for the burn (came w/my burner; my old copy of Nero can't use my Lite-On  )
WinXP(SP1)
@jdobbs: Just want to say that your app is one of the coolest things I've run across on Doom9- it's almost too easy!:D And running ECLCCE/CCE 3 pass without filters, it's also wicked fast! From start to finish on my box (XP2400+/512MB DDR/WinXP), it only took ~3hrs, and the picture quality is excellent, IMO. I'm used to doing my backups with D2S, then using IFOEdit/mDVDAuth to rebuild and re-author, which is an excellent combo, but takes me about 8-12 hours to produce a backup I'm happy with (I'm very picky); and often without original menus, etc. With DVD Rebuilder, I'm getting very close to the quality I'd get from tweaking with D2S/AVISynth/CCE, and the backup plays just like my master! Very Cool! Once I get the hang of this (and get my subtitle problems figured out), I'm definately planning to do a bit of donating... Thanks again for this handy little app!
Oh, and since this is my first post, I'd like to thank all the people here at Doom9, especially DVD2SVCD, all the AVISynth folks, and the mods for their help in teaching me more than I ever thought I'd want to know about MPEG2, encoding, filtering etc.! You guys Rock!:D

Thanks for the tip! I was afraid it was something like that; my Samsung's been a workhorse for me w/VCD, SVCD, etc., but I just got my Lite-On 811S, so these are the first actual DVD's i'm creating. I'll have to try 'em in another player (time for a trip to Circuit City-:p ), and see if a Panasonic or Sony will work. Oh, well, I've been thinking of getting a Prog-scan player, anyhow...

It is also seems to only affect R1 with Kill Bill. I managed to do the R2 version just fine and the subs appear as they should.

Sony NS900V DVD player
Panasonic HS2 DVD recorder

The one I tried this time is CSI Season 1, PAL, Region 2. Others has been season discs of other tv shows, all Region 2 and PAL. Same problem with them, subtitles are selectable but doesnīt show on my standalone... I know that my Samsung is VERY picky, but as long as the movies follows the dvd standards 100% (my own experience with different dvdīs...) it plays everything. There must be something wrong in the rebuild phase, I mean, the original dvdīs donīt have this problem. Or am I totally out of it?

If you try and encode something thats less than an 4.36gb's (i.e. something that is already smaller than a DVD+R) then you get an error9. Something about invalid subscript...

So far I've processed almost all disc with dvdshrink to remove subs first, but one disc I did recently gave an error 9 on preparing and it was cause of the shrink processing. Without it, the disc encoded and rebuilt fine.
So if you get error 9 on prepare, and did it through shrink, trying without preprocessing might help.

The VTS contains only one still frame and audio which is some minutes long. When trying to rebuild the first part DVD-RB produces an "buffer overflow Error #4". Maybe the crash results from the difference of audio and video length.

Sorry, I do not fully understand what this question means, but I try to describe how I did it.
Usually I prepare more than on DVD to rebuild. Then I merge the ECL files and encode the whole bunch.
After that I open the saved projects and press the rebuild button.
So I would rather say I redid it from scratch.
Sorry I forgot to say that I first tried to encode all the extras in "half D1" to save space. But with still frames you do not win too much I guess ;-)
After the first failed rebuild I encoded the still frames with full D1 but this did not work either.
Does it matter for rebuild, if the format of the video is changed by hand ?
Thanks a lot,
Andal

As you can see I am trying to use CCE SP versions. In the setup I supplied their paths in CCE SP 2.50 and CCE SP (new) leaving the path for CCE Basic blank.
I am using the three button approach.
Question: should I specify the CCE exe itself or the ECLCCE exe "belonging" to it? The help text file isn't clear about this.
After I prepared the test DVD (which takes far more than the 4-5 minutes mentioned in help text file.....) I hit Encode to get an error: "No CCE path has been set. Use menu Options/Setup to configure"
Does this mean that filling the CCE Basic path is mandatory?
As I haven't (yet) got CCE Basic this will be a problem.
So I supplied some dummy exe which has nothing to do with CCE for CCE SP 2.50 and selected CCE SP 2.66+ for the encode.
When I hit encode to my astonishment the dummy exe gets executed and not CCE SP 2.66+! The same happens when I select CCE SP 2.50!
When I stop the process and return to the CCE selection the selection has indeed automatically gone back to CCE Basic!
So something is wrong here.....
Additional I have some minor things:
- What's the use of naming the first button Prepare when starting rebuilder and changing it to Process after the first preparation?
- There is no option to clear out path settings (besides deleting the line out of the ini file) or am I missing it?

I get an error 9 - subscript out of range error when it's trying to rebuild VTS_02_0.VOB. 02_1 and 02_0's ifo and bup are fine.
I did half-d1 for extras on Natural Born Killers with .44 and it worked fine, though it has larger extras and the ones on Revolutions are pretty small.
Try to increase the bitrate for the cells under 1000bps (In general, I put 1500bps), then reencode them ...Then rebuild. It always worked for me.

Ermm... actually testing it is probably fastest way to find it out. EclCCE is way of overcoming CCE's inability to load ECL files. If your version can't load them directly you must point DVD-RB to EclCCE.

Time is there only for example.. Surely it doesn't take considerably longer on your setup :D
As for the error i must admit i got caught on this too. Have a look at Options/CCE Options menu and pick correct CCE there (by default CCE Basic is selected there). You must choose one of CCE SP versions.

I do want to use CCE but not the Basic version but the SP version!
Although you offer the option to select CCE SP versions on the CCE options still CCE Basic gets executed! Surely this is not what is supposed to happen!

I think I don't make myself clear......
I have selected CCE in the Mode menu and CCE SP 2.66+ in the CCE Options menu.
When I try to encode with these options and the path for CCE Basic in the Setup menu is empty I get the error stated.
If I put some exe in there and specify the right exe for CCE SP 2.66+ in its own path still the exe out of the CCE Basic path gets executed!
So whatever you choose in the CCE Options menu CCE Basic gets executed!

You need to rerun the PREPARE stage in order to overwrite the old settings.. or?

...or since this is a problem that know one else is having, remove all DVD-RB files and the D2VAVS folder, reinstall DVD-RB and set it up correctly with the version of CCE you intend on using. If you have to use ECLCCE delete the exe and files associated also and run it again to point it at the correct cce.exe.
Then, start the back-up from scratch.

Where exactly do I do that? it says an average in the ecl file, but it's well over 2kbps. If there's individual cell things I'm missing I'm not aware where to look.

You are right Joergen! The help file doesn't tell me that!
Is this what is meant to happen JDobbs? When I select CCE and CCE Basic when I run the preparation I also have to select this on the Encode? If so it would be better not to let the user change the CCE options after the preparation phase. If not then definitely something is wrong......
anyway I got it running.....
And BTW JDobbs should the ECL phase be just 1 pass? (when creating the M2V files).

Thanks for the answers JDobbs.....
but how about the ECL passes?
In expert options there is 2 passes specified.
When ECL starts it does 1/1 passes (VAF and M2V creation I guess) but after that it starts with the next segment. Shouldn't there be an encode in there or does that happen when rebuilding?

.VAF is information gathered from the video and then it writes the .M2V = Final encode of that segment.

I know this was discussed earlier in this thread, but is there a problem with the TargetSectors=xxx and CCETargetSectors=xxx?
I have encoded a movie twice with different values for the number of sectors, and the rebuilt movie always comes out to be the same size.
Here is a snip from my rebuilder.ini. I tried 2280000 at first, but then tried what is listed below. I am using RB 0.46.
[CCEOptions]
VBR_bias=25
Quality_prec=16
eclPasses=2
CCETargetSectors=2300000

I added a new "hidden settings" post to the settings guide.
1. TargetSectors= is not used anymore, even though the readme says it is (the readme also says it was 'removed', so it's not all wrong :) )
2. All *Sectors= settings must be placed in the [Options] section, otherwise they are ignored.
I am still fuzzy on the Half-D1 And Half Space for extras feature. When I use it the log shows that I have 25.2% in favor of the main movie, but for some reason that extra space is not allocated. The Extras were encoded with Half-D1 and Half Space. Am I supposed to go and manually increase the avarage bit rate in the ecl file for all the cells of the main movie?

Djuby It is allocated to the movie proportionally to the amount of space determined in the "dynamically assigned cell bitrates".
jdobbs,
Take a look at this:

-- Building .AVS and .ECL files
- Reduction Level for DVD-5: 55.3%
- Overall Bitrate : 3,052Kbs
HALF-D1 Extras increased Main-Movie bitrate by 25.8%
- HIGH/LOW/AVERAGE Cell Bitrates: 3,763/1,000/3,052 Kbs
Phase I, PREPARATION completed in 9 minutes.

VTS_03 are the extras.
DVD-RB v0.45 with CCE SP 2.67.00.23.
Average bit rate did not change from what I had when Half-D1 was disabled. After completing the backup the final result was 3.86 GB. Any ideas? Thank you in advance.

Djuby I don't believe you have dynamic bitrate checked. I just found a bug in which -> if you check the half-d1 option, and then uncheck the dynamic bitrate box, it will incorrectly print out as you show above... The 1/2-1/2 function is meant to only work when dynamic bitrate is enabled... -- it also is the reason you've come out short, because the extra space is recovered -- but never reallocated to the movie.
I will put a fix into 0.47 in which 1/2-1/2 is automatically unchecked whenever dynamic allocation is unchecked to avoid this confusion and incorrect sizing.

Djuby FYI. I finally found what this was, and it wasn't what I said above. I went back and checked that code and it was actually working correctly. But in the process I found the real bug... it was also what caused some strange status output (negative high bitrate) that RB (I think) reported a while back...

I have an audio sync problem on just chapter 11 of this DVD. All the other chapters are flawless. I noticed the problem when using InterVideo WinDVD 5 (newest updated version), and am playing the movie off my hard drive. When I play chapter 11 from the original directory that I dumped it to, it plays perfectly. Any clues?
I haven't touched the directory after running the one click, so if you need any info from there, let me know.
I also have tried .30 with the above settings and still get audio sync problems with chapter 11. I've done about 20 other backups and none of them have had this problem.

I have never had this problem, and I've done around 20 backups /w subtitles. Are you having problems with just Matrix Revolutions, or other titles also? I'm assuming you're using DVD-RB to rip the DVD directly from your drive?

The reason why PowerDVD doesn't is that the subs need to be turned on first.
I don't have the problem with my DVD players, but this problem is common with other software. I have had it with DVD2One and DVD Shrink. The author of DVD Shrink has solved the problem by using a hide subpicture command. This is similar to the ifoedit method I used.
It can happen when the PUO's are taken off, as there is a PUO that hides the subtitles on default.

I'm encountering a few odd bugs with the DVD-RB. For one thing DVD-RB doesn't respond to the switching of CCE versions on the menu. It launched the original version set. I was also getting the Windows Logoff/Shutdown/Restart window when aborting the encode, thought that could somehow be related to the other error. I think perhaps the settings were getting messed up and Shutdown when finished was activated, even though it wasn't technically finished, and that option wasn't enabled, and shouldn't be activated in 3-click mode anyway.
I think perhaps it might be due to having an .ini file full of junk from previous versions. Or does DVD-RB lock into a CCE version after the prepare stage? I deleted the .ini file and am running another job (it lauched the right version this time), but I won't be able to test it out any more until morning.
PS. Would it be possible to move the "shutdown" feature to a place where you can toogle it when in the middle of a 1-click job? As of now it is on the MODE menu and that get's locked down.

I highly doubt that. PUOs really only prohibit user operations. That is, although the DVD author may set a subpicture stream change PUO on the PGC, he can still switch subpicture streams "internally" using SetSTN PGC pre/post commands. IOW, IMHO it's virtually impossible for a removed PUO to cause a subpic stream to be switched on automatically. My guess is that it is maybe just another symptom of the "empty subpic sync table in NAVPACKs issue". For some SA players it causes subs to not work at all, maybe for others it's just the opposite? At least, the issue again occurs only in standalones.

Hi,
I told DVDRebuilder to deinterlace the stuff with Decomb, but it didn't do that.
Maybe I used wrong configuration?
Here's what I did:
-paths are correctly set
-in menu options -> AVS options -> Advanced (Expert) Options, I selected "Deinterlace with Decomb".
-I didn't select "disable interlace".
So AVS scripts don't contain any link to Decomb filter, just "field deinterlace".
DVD2AVI tells me that video is interlaced.
Did I something wrong?

I've been trying to convert several of my movies from letterboxed 4:3 to 16:9 using your program. It worked great on the Planet of the Apes series ( fantastic on my 55 inch Widescreen). But I'm having problems with Dawn of the Dead and One Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest.
With those movies, the picture will have lines in it during a transition from one scene to another. It doesn't happen often but it is noticeable and only happens during a scene transition. During regular play it appears as a quick blur, but when slowed down or paused you can see the lines of one scene mixing with the coming scene ( I hope I'm describing it correctly).
Any idea what is causing this or is it me???????
I'm using ReBuilder 0.45 with CCE 2.5

@boody1
It sounds like an interlaced frame is being resized improperly. This was mostly fixed with v0.45 Modified the 4:3->16:9 output for interlaced sources so fields are separated prior to resizing and weaved back together after resizing. It should make for a more accurate representation of the source material.
I think that a large part of your movie must be progressive, so it is being treated as progressive, but a few interlaced frames are present.

It seems the lines only appear on scene transitions that merge the ending frames of one scene with the first frames of another scene. In other words a scene of a helicopter fades out and the next scene is of a boat, but for several frames in between you can see the helicopter and boat on the same frame as one fades out and the other fades in.
It doesn't happen when the scene changes are instant.
Any help out there?????

jdobbs,
I ecountered something which you might be interested in. Here is the situation. I was watching a backup I made with DVD-RB 0.47 and as the movie was playing it just froze, but the time counter was going on normal like playback never stopped. I tried it again and the same tning happened. Tried different standalone players with the same result. Power DVD was no exeption. I did a little investigation and what I found was that this freeze is between chapters. When I hit the next chapter button the problem chapter gets skipped.
http://auristechnology.com/officeuse/filelist.jpg
I marked the files that I tnink are creating the problem. The file after the marked one is the chapter that has to be played.
I can send you the REDUILDER.ECL and D2V file if you are interested.
Djuby
P.S. I also made the same backup with v.0.46 and had the same problem at exactly the same spot, so I think that the version is not an issue here.

I've selected "half res. and half bitrate" option.
the main movie subs and all the BOV feature are OK, but in all extras with half D1 res. the subtitles are destroied bitmaps... so I must return to BIG3 method...

DVD-RB Version: 0.46
Encoder being used: CCE 2.67.00.23
Using eclCCE 1.8b
DVD: Terminator 2 (PAL, R2)
All options set at their default value.
The first VTS is quite rich of menus for scene selection.
The prepare, encode and rebuild steps were completed without errors.
Ok. I dont like specifically this kind of movies..., but I was really happy because this title
was really troublesome in my experience since the beginning of my tests with DVD-RB: never
being able to rebuild it until the release of DVD-RB version supporting BOV...
The bad news was that playing the title with PowerDVD, one of the menus (vobid 49, cellid 1) played
in a very jerky manner and the 6 buttons in the still image were not present at all. I tried many
times to reencode the single wrong segment but at the end the m2v file produced by CCE was always a
file (V01004800049001.m2v) of 48 Kbytes.
I would report that after the manual replacement of the bad m2v file (taking a new m2v file, long 110 Kbytes,
demuxed from the original with Vobedit), and just redoing the rebuil step, the copy is now perfect.
Is anyone else having similar problems encoding still frames ?

I also tried redoing the whole process with CCE and got the same message at the same stage.

The IFO is attempting to reference a VOBID/CELLID that doesn't exist.
Is there a way to fix this? I have had it happen on some movies an not others. Is there something I may be doing to cause the problem?

I got to chapter 5 of the fourth episode (Justice). It stuttered as it went from chapter 4 to 5. It was stuttering so badly that the picture went blocky/ If I tried to pause or scan forward/backward it looked fine. I skipped to chapter 6 and it was fine to the end of the episode.
I have also done Disc 1 of TNG and DS9 Season 1 Disc 1 and they were ok.

I put the message in only as a sanity check -- I really didn't expect to ever see it.

CCE SP 2.67.00.23
Great job on the new version. CCE went from 2.40 to 3.03 on a 2.8 GHz P4 with HT enabled. Ufortunately I have to report a "Run-time error 6: Overflow" on the first step - Prepare. It's the first time it happened to me. Tried with 0.46 - same thing. The disk it happened on is Star Trek Next Generation Season 2 Disk 5 (R1/NTSC).
Tested Half-D1 and Half Space for extras and it worked great. The extra space was allocated properly to the main movie. In my particular case it almost doubled the bit rate of the main movie ... it came out awesome!!!

What immediately catches my eye on this problem is the fact that (it appears) about 14 frames are created as a segment, followed by another segment -- both of which have the same vob/cell id set. That would happen correctly with a still -- but 14 frames is not a still. There's something wrong somewhere..

Rebuilder v0.48
CCE SP 2.67.00.27
Using EclCCE v1.81
Backing up 24 Season 1 Disc 2
This is a TV show on video that has a menu and 4 episodes. The Auto area shows only 2ch english audo. The VTS area shows only VTS_04 which is 6,150 Mbytes, 16:9.
All my settings are stock, but I did increase the number of passes to 3.
Cannot "UpdateIFO" error when doing the last step in the process,
"updating information in NAVPACKS" right after the
"Rebuilding segment 22 VOBID:4 CELLID:2" line. This is the last Cell I think, the Overall prograss bar is at the end/100%. If this isn't the last one, it's very close.
When I get the error I also get a message saying "stop statement encounterd". When I click ok on that dialog box, the program terminates and I cannot use the "Copy status to clipboard".
EDIT: I made the image and burned it to a DVD+RW and it seems to play ok. I haven't got to the end of the disc yet, but the main menu works fine and the seperate shows play fine for what I've seen.
EDIT: After watching the last part of the backup, it did stop. But sorry, it looks like the problem was probably with how I copied the original disc to the hard drive. It looks like all the data isn't there and that's probably why it couldn't finish the process. Error limited user headspace. I backed up 24 Season 1 Disc 1&3 with no problems.

That guy just doesnt understand that DVDs are made to be decoded on hardware mpeg2 chips. I told him twice in the thread he created just for himself. For him "real" players are PowerDVD and WinDVD, and of course they are mere software players that in actuality dont adhere to the standard when it comes to bitmaps over the video and half-d1, and simply try to emulate the standard and a hardware decoder.
I'd say this is just another "pearls to the pigs" situation where a guy comes in, thinks of a silly thing to whine about and goes back to his *superior* methods.

@Djuby
Thanks for the tip on STNG Season 2, Disc 3. I was able to repeat the problem and finally traced it down (it took a while). There was a bug in the way I was flagging stills that made my code, when circumstances were just right, set incorrect timing values. As a result your player went blank waiting for the clock to catch up to the bogus display-time values. In this disc it was caused by a pair of I-Frames that were put at the end of a VOBU. This is also the probable cause of the (rare) reported audio drifting and off-by-some-fixed-amount audio errors.
I'll post the fix in a little while.
Great feedback.

I've found a little bug. It isn't so horrible, since it is in the features, anyway, here the report:
1. DVD-R Version: 0.49
2. Encoder being used: CCE SP 2.67.00.27 trial
3. EclCCE v1.81, AviSynth 2.54, Decodefix 110
4. DVD: Tomb Raider 2, PAL
5. copied in file mode with DVD Decrypter v3.2.2.0 (or was it v3.2.1.0...not sure anymore)
6. Pentium M 1.6
7. Bug encountered:
When playing the alternate ending in the special features, there is a terrible syncronization problem. The audio is matching in no way, absolutely out of sync. I have only tested it on my Laptop with InterVideo and Power DVD. OK, since the special features are not so important and the quality are bad anyway, this is not so serious. But I thought someone might be interested in the peoblem.
BTW: When using the transcoder Recode v2.0.18, the bug doesn't appear.
Cheers
P.S.: Sorry that I don't have anymore backgroud information...I'm not so professional in the technical things...

2. CCE 2.67.00.23 trial

5. encoded in one click mode directly from DVD via AnyDVD 3.6.11; dynamically assign cell bitrates enabled; Half-D1 and Half Space for Extras enabled
6. AMD Athlon 2200+
7. Bug/problem: extras' subtitles are corrupted, they show up on screen as garbled graphics. Movie is 16:9, extras are 4:3.

edit: Decided to take a screengrab of the problem with PowerDVD 5.0 and it displayed the subs just fine. WinDVD 4.5 Platinum shows the subs as corrupted, but it won't include subs in screengrabs.

It's more a suggestion:
what about a warning prompt when one select half D1?

Don't know if it has been mentioned before but here it is:
I tried to copy Bridget Jones's Diary (dutch PAL rental version) and between 46.50 min. and 47.00 min. there's a glitch and the audio gets out of sync (right after the scene change), but when you select a scene after this point trough the chapter selection screen it works just fine.
I'm using dvd-rb 0.54 (older versions did the same) with CCE SP 2.67.00.23 (eclCCE)
no extra's compression, removed 2 subs, 2 audio tracks, used 5 passes
One click mode, dynamically assign cell bitrates enabled
hope this helps,

I don't have the original disc anymore, but I still have the original copy (made with DVDdecrypter) and at exactly the same place there is a slight click or volume drop for just a moment, so yes, it could be a layer break.

Using QuEnc 0.53 and Rebuilder 0.56, I get a pop-up saying "Bad Parameter" each time QuEnc is invoked.
A little debugging shows it's the "-nokvcd" option that QuEnc objects to. Checking Rebuilder's QuEnc option "KVCD 'Notch' Matrix' didn't help, because Rebuilder then sends a "-kvcd" option, which QuEnc doesn't like any better.
As a temporary fix, I edited Rebuilder.exe and changed each of these strings to blanks. Notes:
- You must use an editor capable of handling binary files.
- The strings are Unicode, which means that each ASCII character is followed by a 0 byte.
So, the 2 changes, in hex, are:
From: 2d00 6b00 7600 6300 6400
To: 2000 2000 2000 2000 2000

For some reason the target file for MPEG2Dec3dg.dll was set at MPEG2Dec3.dll in DVD-RB so this was not being loaded. I was too quick to blame SP2!

Have you modified the original source in any way with other software packages? That is usually the source of this error.

No, I just rip the DVD using DVD Decripter 3.5.1.0. Let me know if you want me to send you some files...
Thanks for your help, this is greatly appreciated.

DVD Rebuilder experienced a buffer overflow. Error #0003. Process must abort. @pboisso
I found and corrected the cause of this error. It will be included in v0.73. DVD Decrypter creates null sectors in the output stream as a way of bypassing a protection scheme. During the rebuild DVD-RB wasn't correctly recognizing these as nulls and was attempting to insert them into the output stream.
There's always something new!

It`s great to hear that. Thanks a lot for the fix. Looking forward to use 0.73.
Have a good week-end.
