Hi there.

I was asked once if its possible to add a logo to a movie without reencoding the Videostream.

I told him that it is possible adding a Subtitle to the Movie and displaying it over the whole movie.

Till now I only find a way using normal text for a subtitle.
But then I found out that also BMP is used for subtitles.

So now my question to You guys:

What is the easiest way getting SUP out of BMP?

Hi,
Have you checked out the DVD Subtitle Tools package?
http://web.quick.cz/FKasparek/Software/DVD/DVDSupTools.htm

Please refer to my post in thread 59952.
http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=59952

It's the 6th entry in the thread which highlights using
DVD Sup Tools (commandline programs), which I believe is a
convenient way of extracting subtitle / subpicture bitmaps from
.sup files, preserving the color mappings and timings.

You can convert .sup to .bmp / .txt (MicroDVD format) with DVDSupDecode.
You can view the details of the .sup files (timecodes, view bitmap,
etc.) with DVDSupHTML.
You can convert .bmp/.txt(MicroDVD format) back to .sup with DVDSupEncode.

So, you now can easily replace / edit the bitmaps and timings
to your liking and generate new .sup files with the original color
mappings!

DVDSupEncode produces DVD-compliant .sup files which can be
re-muxed into a .vob file, ready for authoring / burning to a new
DVD.
