Subpicture not updating after AR change of menu

I tried to fix an actually 16:9 menu which is being shown 4:3 on standalone players so it really shows 16:9..
I changed the AR flag of the vobs itself and i played around with ifoedit and the AR settings (unchecked pan&scan and set auto-letterbox etc.) ..after some tests it really worked, BUT the AR of the subpicture wasnt changed! Result: the button highlights and stuff were displaced, still on their 4:3 position.

Any Idea how to change the AR of the subpictures or ..what flag to set so it's being shown in 16:9 as well, like the 'background' ?

Subpictures do not have AR flags, and are never resized. What DVDs have instead is up to 3 subpicture streams for the different 16:9 display modes (widescreen, letterboxed, and Pan/Scan).
In order to align things again you need to make new subpictures and mux them in.

How do i do that exactly?
And is there a way to check if there are really only the 4:3 subpictures available?

some background infos:
- it's the PAL 'Pirates of the Caribbean'
- it's correctly running in Windvd5 (always 16:9) before and after any AR mods
- on a 4:3 tv, dvd player must be set to 'TV is 16:9' for correct AR
- on a 16:9 tv it's shown 4:3 in all modes (odd huh? ..maybe stupid dvd player)
- tried 2 dvd players on 4:3 tv and a third dvd player on 16:9 tv

goal: just make the menu permanent 16:9, no matter what mode is set on dvd player nor what AR the TV got. (Like the Indiana Jones Trilogy menus for example, it's always 16:9)
