Splitiing a disc.

OK, im gonna backup Fawlty Towers, both series.Now series one is 7.35GB, Now i dont really wanna re-encode this as i feel the bitrate is gonna be a bit low.So i want to split the disc.Now i know i can split it with ifoedit, the thing is theres the 6 epsiodes pgc 1->6 then theres a two pgc that are about 30 secs each, i think these are the logos.

So when splitting i open the correct ifo then i click vob extras > then untick strip streams, tick strip vob ids,correct vob-unit, and correct original ifos.The i tick 2,3, and 4(these are episodes 1 -3).Now i also tick vob ids 1 and 8 right ?? as these are logos or something to do with the play back.
Doing this will give me a disc that has the first 3 episodes,plus the menu right ??

OK,i just stripped it so episodes 1,2 and 3 would be on the first dvdr.Plays ok, but if i select a episode which is removed it replaces the dvd from the beginnig, what line(s) would i need to edit so that when u select a episode that is not on disc one it goes straight back to the menu.??

Try using this guide (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=50245); most likely step 3 should solve your problem. Basically, you need to turn all the Post command of the removed titles into Pre commands, so it'll jump back to a menu before attempting to play the removed title.

OK, i had a look at the guide but i dont know what values to out in so that when the espisodes that are not there are selected it goes straight back to the menu.

I have also run into another problem.I jusr stripped episodes 1,2 and 3 so that disc 2 only has episodes 4,5 and 6, but if u select episode 1(which is removed) or episode 4 it plays episode for, do i need to do the say thing to stop episode 4 playing when u select episode 1.

Normally in this case, I would use MenuEdit to disable those buttons so that you don't have an option to select them.

Good idea, but i just had another look at disc two in powerdvd and it does'nt match which episode i select it always plays the same one, it wont play the other two, even if i click play all it just plays one episode.This is only happening on disc two where episodes 1,2, and 3 are removed.

What I would do is not "strip" those chapters but replace them with blanks. ;)

Thats a good idea , except i dont know how to create blank clips.Also the only way i know how to add blank clips is to demux with dif4u -> RA for script then add the blank clips in scenarist.


I would like to know how to make insert disc 2 clips like on http://posunplugged.com/ as i dont think a lotrs one with look right on a fawlty towers discs.

Or if you know where i could get some blank clips would be nice.
