question about number of audio samples in an avi file.

Numbers better than anything else here.

let's take a clip of
101 frames @ 120 fps (nearly)
samplingrate 48000Hz
preload 0.5s (24000 samples)

Now vdubmod reports that the clip has 13480 samples...
which seems to be right,
where my calculation find 101/119.88*48000 = 40440 samples...

Where is my error?

Of course 40440/3 = 13480 but is it a coincidence,
or if not, where does this 3 factor comes from...
preload being 0.5s for 24000 samples seems not correling there too...

Any explanations?
