I'm trying to do some XviD on a Sony VAIO, Pentium 4 2,6 GHz HT, 512 Mbyte RAM and something strange happens and I don't ubderstand if it's a problem of XviD or VirtualdubMod.
After the movie was coded I wanted to open it with VirtualDubMod and after a few frame the program crashed saying that there was an error in xvidcore, I updated to a new version of virtualdubmod and this didn't happened again so I thought that was a problem of VirtualDubMod, but recently i downgrade and this problem doesn't come anymore. Then I wanted to save my avi as ogm and sometime this is possible sometime the process started but suddenly freeze, even if the program is still working and in the log you see

Dub: I/O thread has not cycled for ten seconds -- possible livelock.
(Thread location: 7FFE0304)

like if the codec didn't pass the datas.

This doesn't happen on my laptop that use the same codec and software, but it is a P4 2,4 GHz without HT.

I'm wondering if these could depend on HT.

There have been similar reports in the VirtualDub(Mod) forum, specifically in this thread (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?threadid=62774&perpage=20&pagenumber=1).
It looks like a VirtualDubMod problem but there is no verdict yet, nor an all working fix.
Still you 'd better check it out...:)

Definatly not xvid related - when saving to OGM, direct stream copy is used, the codec doesn't even get touched.

Yeah, I'm getting the same error with DivX 5.1.1.:

[!] Dub: Processing thread has not cycled for ten seconds --
possible livelock. (Thread location: 7FFE0304)

using VDM 1.5.10.1 r2389 (from Gordian Knot).

I have updated GKnot to the latest release (2439), and so far after three days, I haven't had the livelock issue, although the sample size is still a bit small - I'll repost in a few more days if it still looks like the livelock issue hasn't returned.

I notice this problem, in different version (the one with GordianKnot and the latest update of virtualdubmod) only on P4 with HT, could it be related to Hyper threading?

Nah...I get it a lot on my Athlon XP as well.
