Hi,
is it possible to split a DVD-9 to 2 DVD-Rs in a way only the IFO- but not the VOB-files get altered by IFO-Edit? I read DOOM9s guide and experiented with the settings within IFO-Edits "Split to 2 DVDs"-function, but wasn't able to get the desired output.

And how do you intend to put 9 Gigs of VOB files to 4.38 GB?

Basically I want to do what is described in DOOM9s guide. I want to divide the main vob-set of the DVD into 2 parts and burn the first half with the menus on DVD 1 and and the second half with menus and extras onto DVD 2 and make the video start automatically when DVD 2 is inserted in the player.
But I want the VOB-files to stay original and divide the main VOB-set by copying one half onto one DVD and the rest onto the other DVD not reencoding like IFO-Edit does when following DOOM9s guide.

I seem to remember a similar post - try to do a search.
Doom9 and 2Cool have some great guides - you're bound to learn a couple of things from them.
I think what you need to do is make two copies of the original disk in two separate folders, then open each one and strip out the content that you don't want.
@violao
He does say he wants to do it on two -R discs.
EDIT: Here's the link (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=69346) of a good guide.

Sure, but he said he didn't want to alter VOB-files.
In addition to what artronic said, here's what I would do. I would look for a 'Layer break' in movie PGC and stripped off vobs/cells after layer break in 1st cd dir and before layer break on 2nd cd dir. You'll also need to figure out where exactly (on what layer) extras reside.
Please note that you will also need to edit chapter and extra menus, changing commands that point to the content that is now on other disc. Also you'll need to edit chapter (PTT) numbers on 2nd disc chapter menu commands.
Also please note that IfoEdit doesn't do any encoding.

Thanks for your replies. I guess I have to do some more reading about IFO-files then, cause I don't know of the most things that you talked about.
