View Full Version : XviD + VBR MP3 = Jittery Video -> Help :)

hi there, I know adding VBR MP3 into an avi is not supposed to be good to do

but lets say I want to do it anyway, for my neatness and satisfaction of a good "rip" type scenario

ok I've fired up my VDub done my cap, then launched into my main VDub split out the wav, ran that through BeSweet

then gone into Vdub done a fast recompress with avisynth for xvid and no audio on the audio options

done my 2 pass in vdub + converting down from 720x576 to 640x352(for 16:9 stuff) and done my deinterlacing and resize all in avisynth script

ok then into nandub and rejoin the video to the vbr mp3 . . .

Voila fire the video up in windows media player and theres very very slight jerkyness of the videofile, Cpu usage is 20-30% so I don't see that being a problem.

Rather than telling me to use CBR mp3 in avi files could someone tell me possible fixes ? like the mp3 header being changed back to CBR from VBR would that fix anything or not ?

Many thanks for any help in advance . . .

Have you tried to mux it with VDubMod?

GanjamanUSS

will try that :)

yep still jittery playback

changing the header back to CBR seems to make it play back a lot better am investigating this more . . .

yep tried that and still not working so well

the clip encoded with XviD is fine untill I inject the VBR MP3 into it in nandub

then a noticeable jerkiness will start to appear in pan shots etc etc

is that a problem with Windows Media Player ? I haven't got Ffdshow installed . . .

Then try AVI-Mux GUI

GanjamanUSS

gonna investigate that now

as a quickie I also noticed playback has my athlon3200+ at about 80%

thats not normal I take it . . .

Don't use nandub. Use VirtualDub or Virtualdubmod to mux.
I've never had a single issue with VBR mp3 and jerkiness.
(With AC3 however....:D)

Avi-Mux GUI is a great tool, but it still has some unsolved issues when muxing mp3 audio into avi (though the problems are not play-back related actually).

So far I haven't experienced any problems with Nandub. In fact, I still find Nandub the most reliable tool to mux (vbr) mp3 into avi.

I've never had a single issue with vbr mp3 and jerkiness using Nandub for muxing.

To be honest, I doubt Ganjaman's problem is indeed related with the muxing application.

Which issues? I can't fix issues I don't know about, so tell me...

Come on alexnoe, I told you this several times in the audio forum :), the weird message that mpc displays before opening the avi (about using the old avi splitter or something, I cannot remember exactly) which contains vbr mp3 muxed with Avi-Mux GUI.

Also, cbr mp3 being recognized as vbr, etc. You'd told you would take a look into them, but never replied again! ;)

Anyway, I know they are unimportant issues, but kinda annoy me because I don't wanna see an error report when trying to open my files in my favourite player (mpc).

regards,
iago

edit: I'll try to find the link to the discussion about these issues in the audio forum.

Ah, those ones. Well, I can't always remember what someone specific wrote...

Fix them, and I'll delete nandub from my computer! :D

Other than these, I'm a true admirer of your tool! :)

I haven't had any problems (knock on wood) with muxing vbr MP3 and my xvid into an avi file using NanDub(1.0rc2). I'm not sure why anyone would think it a bad thing to do (doesn't Robot4Rip/Gknot use this option as well?). I haven't had any problem muxing AC3 and xvid in avi with either VDubMod(1.5.10.1) or NanDub. Never a jittery frame.

What kind of source are you capturing and at what framerate? Maybe it is a problem with BeSweet settings and framerate conversion or some other such setting that could affect it from its intended source video. I dunno, just a thought.

My question is simple:

-How can someone properly mux mp3 vbr in a avi file with VdubMod?

-The question about rewriting the headers shoud be no or yes ?

My common sense would say no (keep with the vbr header) but... an advice wouldn't hurt...

EDIT: In VdubMod we have two options that might be relevant:

"Do not correct MPEG Layer - III audio streams"
and
"By default try to processing Mp3 VBR streams like nandub"

I have already checked the second one to see how it goes

END EDIT

All the best,

Sharro

PS: IAGO Merhaba...good to see you around....

why don't you try to interleave witn 64ms preload, interleaving every 64ms, I noticed that this often helps.
