Hi,

i hope thats the right forum.
(i posted here because i need the vertical offset for Maestro Wide And Letterboxed Subtitles)

I must reencode so i deside to convert / resize the 16:9 letterboxed source to an anamorphic 16:9 Videostream.

Now i have only one Problem..

What can i do with the Subtitles ?!
is there a way to convert the Subtitle Bitmaps ?
(original are 4:3 ... and i need one for Wide and one for Letterboxed in Maestro Format)

Or i have to use MaestroSBT für Subtitles ?
And when.. which Vertical Offset i need for letterboxed and which for wide Subtitles.

--------------------------------

I want to buy a 16:9 TV in the next month.. so i think it's better to convert.
But i can't test the subtitle position, because i only have a 4:3 TV at the moment.

Thank you !

But i can't test the subtitle position, because i only have a 4:3 TV at the moment. You can test it in a software player like PowerDVD - it'll display the movie in 16:9 unless you specified otherwise in the settings.

The original subpictures will work in Letterbox mode, and probably look OK in Widescreen (so use the same stream for both). This is because the subpictures are not resized during playback, but are placed over the resized video. If the original video was a 4:3 letterboxed, and you have now resized it to 16:9 anamorphic, then the player will resize the video back to the same as it was originally, adding the mattes, for letterbox display on a 4:3 monitor.

btw, as dimmer noted, software players can show widescreen on a computer monitor. But to test letterboxed, you need to select a 4:3 display mode, or use a 4:3 monitor/tv.

thanks !

i used the original subpictures for Letterbox and created some with MaestroSBT (with 16:9 correction) for Wide Mode.
Looks good on Softwareplayer (Wide) and also on my Standalone (4:3 TV / Letterboxed).
