I have the first elements of a DVD movie (an .m2v and an .mpa file) that I actually write with my stand-alone DVD writer, and I can burn it direct to an empty disc with perfect quality (special thanks to "dimmer"). The only thing is missing now is a finishing touch, a Logo or something. After the help of some people I have found the solution to my problem, or, at least I thought I did!
The following lines are a step by step guide of what I have done until today. Please post a reply if you find something that I did wrong, or you have a better idea of adding a logo in a DVD´s screen.

1. I have install the the AVIFile frameclient to my VirtualDubMod
2. Altough I use XP, I restart my computer after the frameclient instalation.
3. I open my OLD.m2v file in theVirtualDubMod.
4. I have my logo added and then I pressed the "Start frame Server" button.
6. I press the start button on the following window, and
7. I have gave a name for the .vdr file.
8. I pressed save (NEW.m2v), and then.....
9. I opened the TmpgEnc, and I loaded the DVD PAL template, so that in the left down corner of the program uppears the following combination:
DVD PAL (MPEG-2 720x576 25fps CQ 65, Layer-2 48000Hz 384kbps)
Since I used a .m2v file without audio for the moment, I have selected: ES (Video only).
10.The result was good but not perfect because the quality was reduced, but moves were smooth and no other problems were to noticed.

11.After, in my next 2-3 tests I have changed the CQ in many differend values, and finaly I was with the impression that CQ 80 was my best choise.

12. But the problems were continued to exist! Sometimes my files were become so big that won´t fit in a standard DVD-R, and some other times my files become very little and that results loss of quality.

13.After this I decided to read more and understand better how the hole system works, and why is my quality "flies away" the most times. I thought that my choise of letting CQ (constant quality) was a wrong one, and I decided to change it with a high CBR (constand Bitrate). I have made many tests, and finally I decided that since I want to fit a 90 min film in a DVD the best value for CBR is around 6000.

14.My next 3 films were fantastic! I was happy and amazed that after two weeks of trying and emailing and and and, I had the better results ever!

15. AND THEN IT HAPPENS!
I noticed that in some films I tried to burn, a serious problem in movement. It appears like it freezes and beguns, freezes and beguns, over and over. This is mostly appears in scenes with crowd movement or even a car movement, or what ever crosses the screen from the one side to another.

Another thing that I must maybe tell you is that in the computer the files are playing good but the problems begun after the burn sequence on the disc.

I must add here that if I write my movies or any movie I want in an empty dvd disc B E F O R E the adding of a logo and B E F O R E all of the steps above then the results are absolute P E R F E C T . So I think that whatever the reason is for the problem above, it is certainly not a media (disc) problem.

I want to thank you all in advance, not only for your help but for reading this huge post too.

Okay, you have to drop these futile attempts to embed your logo into the video, learn how to use Scenarist or Maestro and make the logo a forced subpicture. There are many good reasons for that:
- your source is already an MPEG file, by re-encoding it you will always lose quality.
- during the time it takes to re-encode one 2 hour movie (I bet it's at least 10 hours) you can learn everything you need to know about adding a subpicture in Scenarist/Maestro;
- encoding itself is quite a complicated subject, as you can see if you browse related forums.

The only downside versus using TDA is that you'll have to create the menus yourself, which might seem difficult at first or sometimes plain boring. Start with a title without menus just to get a feel of it. Adding the logo itself takes about a minute. And don't believe anyone who says that Scenarist/Maestro are hard to learn or use. Once you successfully tried it, you'll understand that it's the only way to go. TDA is still very good for extracting and cutting the files from your DVD-recorder, and you won't even need to bother joining them manually anymore.

Allright...

Like Johnny used to say: "Hit me !!!"

I need a place to start then, as you know I have already try to insert a .m2v in both of the above programs and this was not possible...
Is there a guide to follow or you can give me a hint ?

There is a couple of guides on this site for Maestro (http://www.doom9.org/mpg/maestro.htm) and Scenarist (http://www.doom9.org/mpg/scenarist.htm). Here's a good site that explains DVD structure, domains, and commands using Scenarist screenshots: http://www.dvd-replica.com/DVD/domains.php

As for your specific .m2v files, there is one thing you should check. Open TMPGEnc, go to MPEG Tools - Demultimplex, open your .m2v. If you see more than one stream, double-click on Video stream and save it as another .m2v. This would be a true elementary stream, the only kind you can use in professional authoring programs.

I found also a way adding a logo to Your movie without reencoding Your movie. Use SubRip and create a srtfile using a short subtitle of a DVD.
So You have a srt-file and some bmps. Go into the srt-file and edit the start and endpoints of the first bmp. Delete the other bmps.

Create a new bmp with your logo and overwrite the last bmp you have form the subtitle.

use Srt2Sup to converte the srt-file to a sup-file. Then You can use IFOEdit or ReJig to re-author Your DVD. Use IFOEdit for enabling the Subtitle. So the Logo will displayed into Your movie.

Remember: Everybody how news that it is only a sub can disable it.

Hi,

It is easier than that as you do not have to create a SRT file for Srt2Sup.

Just start Srt2Sup insert a single subtitle
set the start and end times
Set this to be a bitmap and browse to your image
Set the global colours to match your image
(the image must be only 4 colour from windows default 16 colours)
Create the SUP file
Author with IfoEdit or ReJig

Pepipocpoc uses bitmap subtitles all the time he may have more tips for you?

Regards

Srt2sup

I want to thank you all for your replies....

I have found the answer for my problem. The secret is simple!
just use a special filter (Reverse field) in Virtualdubmod and thats all! No more freezing, and everything moving smooth as before...

Thanks again !!!
