I have some VCDs with 2 different languages on two channels of MP2. I'm just wondering how can I encode this MP2 so that when I do the playback, I don't have to move the sound slider to the one side to hear one language.

Let me make it more clarified. We know that regluar MPEG1 with MP2 sound, we can set its audio properties in WMP to either output Mono-left or Mono-right, and we get one channel of sound on BOTH speakers. But now, if I encode this MP2 to some format like MP3 or RA, I will have to go into the sound control and move the slider to the left or right to hear one language. And the annoying thing is I only get ONE speaker with sound. To my question above, how can I encode this MP2 file so that when I play it, I have the ability to set Mono-left or right and get sound on both speakers?? All you professionals please help!! Thanks!!

Welcome to the forums!

As usual, DSPguru has written an excellent fix for this common problem - download the latest beta of BeSplit (http://besplit.doom9.org/), which can split your MP2 losslessly into two mono MP2 files. An example commandline is BeSplit -core( -input stereo.mp2 -prefix e:\channel -type mp2 -demux )as mentioned in the MP2 FAQ #8 (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=68300#post424064). Keep in mind that this technique will only work for dual channel MP2s - which most dual language MP2s are.
