View Full Version : AVIMux GUI won't save MP2 as AVI

when I load an MP2 audio file into AVIMux GUI, it states that "this file might be MP3 CBR"?

GSpot reports the audio as...

code: 0x0050
name: WAVE_FORMAT_MPEG (MP1/MP2)

and when I then try to mux it with a video file, it will only let me save it as a .mkv file. whereas I'd like to save it as an .avi

does anyone know how I can resolve this?

thanks.

Mp2 is for mpg files only. AVI will accept mp3, ac3 and pcm. The way to fix it is use another format?

Well, MP2 *could* be stored in AVI, but the headers differ from the ones you need for MP3, so that AVI-Mux GUI does (at the moment) not allow MP2-in-AVI.

MKV, in principal, works fine with MP2 audio. Unfortunately i was informed that there is a bug in mkvmerge if MKV's with MP2 audio are split :( ....

Where exactly is the difference between MP2 and MP3, if you have MP3 working and don't have to care about b0rked M$ ACM headers?
