View Full Version : Scenarist Multiplexing Error

I have been trying to use the Big 3 to create a backup of KPAX.

Everything works fine, until I get to the compile step of Scenarist. It will compile until a certain PGC (VTS_07_PGC_02) and then error out, stating that the layout could not be completed.

These are the messages that Scenarist lists:
------------------------------------------------------
Info Preparing to multiplex track VTS_07_PGC_02
Info Creating Multiplexer info
Info Multiplexing
Info Multiplexing VOB Main Stream
Error (The duration is too short (2 frame(s)))
Error dvd_mux : Open Mux_list File Error
Error Terminated Multiplexing (Scenarist.scn-VTS_07_PGC_02_t.vob).
Error Wrong timecode.
Error Multiplex is failed.
Info Multiplexing failed, Track<VTS_07_PGC_02>

Error MuxFromDB:MuxVTS failed
Error Multiplex failed
Error DVD files could not be created
-----------------------------------------------------------

I've looked at the Main Video Play "Duration," and it is just one frame. I've tried changing it to 3 frames (2 frames more than one, per what I think the Error message above means); however, it will not take. Am I even trying to do the right thing, or am I misunderstanding why this error is occurring?

Any help is very much appreciated in working through this!

hi stanjr and welcome to the forum!
I've tried changing it to 3 frames (2 frames more than one, per what I think the Error message above means); however, it will not take. you are trying the right tactic to fixing your error, unfortunatly you cannot adjust the duration by this approach though.what you should do is:

step 1. delete VTS_07_PGC_02 cell/track from the 'scenario editor' window
step 2. delete VTS_07_PGC_02 from the 'track window' (take note of any audio/subtitle streams)
step 3. (may not be necessary but just in case) delete VTS_07_PGC_02.mpv (probably will have m2v extension) from your 'data editor' window.
step 4. stay in the data editor and select tools/new data. navigate to VTS_07_PGC_02.mpv (m2v) in your VTS_07 folder (it will most likely have a 'no-cce' in the filename) and press ok. important note: make sure you select the correct display - 16:9 or 4:3.
step 5. go to your track editor window, find the newly added file in your data tab (bottom right hand window) and drag and drop that file into the track editor window. answer 'slide show' at the scenarist prompt.
step 6. double click on this newly created track. add any associated audio tracks - note: sometimes i receive errors re-using the dummy audio tacks that RA creates. if this happens download the filler audio tracks from trilights site here (http://dvdguides.trilight.net/) and use the corresponding filler (448, 192 etc) make sure you match what was previously in this track (audio and subtitle streams)
step 7. select the video track and now you can change the duration (scenarist will by default, give all slide shows a duration of 10 seconds) to suit what the ifo states (usually 10, 12 or 15 frames)
step 8. go to your scenario editor and selecting the new track from the track tab (bottom right hand window) drag and drop this onto the existing pgc that you deleted the track from earlier.
hope that makes sense

also keep in mind sometimes scenarist wont give you the option for slide show if the assett is too long (too long to be a slide but too short to be a video).. if you still get an error after doing it manually, you may have to replace the video with a dummy video in the same aspect ratio.

Thanks jel and Trahald for the very informative solution to try out! I have noted it; however, I went ahead and tried the new DoItFast4U with ScenAid (instead of Reauthorist) and the backup went without a hitch!

I think I may re-do with Reauthorist just to see if the problem occurs again, and then if I can fix it with the steps you provided....for a learning experience.

Again, thanks!
