Would like to know what u guys use to test the speed of DDR memory.
I hd (Hynix chipset)DDR 266 512Mb on Intel 845GEBV2, p4 2.4Ghz.
Recently i upgrated to Transcend DDR333 512 mb. I am feeling that the performance of this DDR333 is less compaired to 266.

How do i check the performance of DDR333. Am using this only for divx encoding. A rough benchmark what i hv see is that for a 2hr movie without any filters NTSC film @ 608*xxx resulution took around 2hrs with DDR266 compaired to DDR333 its taking half an hour more!!!!

Any help would be apperciated

thx

You could use Sisosft Sandra 2004 which is a popular one. Just run the Memory Bandwidth benchmark. The higher the bandwidth the better your performance should be.

Sounds like your DDR333 has higher / worse timings than the DDR266 which is common. Maybe your DDR266 was CAS2 and your DDR333 is now 2.5 or even 3. Maybe you could change it in BIOS to better timings or increase your FSB 166 (overclocking CPU a bit in process) to get memory working at it's full speed of 333 Mhz. Your CPU should be fine with that. I assume it's a 533FSB Pentium 4 ?

FSB is 533Mhz, and i did check with sandara 2004, memory timing i got
is
2.5-3-3-7CL 1CMD
2.5-3-3-7CL 1CMD

int buffer 2470mbps
and bw eff was 92%
something like this i see in the test result.

But overclock in intel mobo is not possible... if am right. Cannot even change the timings in the BIOS, its set to auto and i cannot change it !!!

thx
