Hi
got a problem with vobedit. When i try to preview a VOB it tells me "failed to render " and nothing comes into the preview screen. The dialog comes up o.k just the preview does't play with the message failed to render showing ?
any ideas whats wrong. I am thinking it must be a codec i need not loaded on the machine ?? or somethng similar missing. i dont know though . What should be on the machine to make it playback previews o.k. I dont have any dvd players etc on only WM9 which was installed through a service pack .
could be way off base though....
Thanks

I think you're right, I couldn't get the preview either on my machine, even after loading some codecs. I will eventually try something like power dvd or another software player.
I did get Media Player Classic and VLC to work and I can play DVD's, but neither works with VOBEdit for me.

Hi Artronic
Vob edit is doing very strange things for me indeed.
I have 8 machines to play with :-)but one which is my main workstation (o.k i have to share MY other machines with workers by day but at night they are all MINE MINE MINE ...). I have loaded and unloaded quite a few programs on my machine so Vobedit not behaving too well i thought was related to this.
However.......( there's always a however with this hobby).....
i loaded Vobedit on a clean machine and the same problem. I cant get Vobedit to actually do anything. I follow guides and everything goes as per plan up till Vobedit is supposed to create a new file (or vob), but hten nothing, it just does't do anything. hmmmm.......
So i deleted the program and downloaded it again ( and again) . Funny thing is on some vobs i got off a french site , i cant get VE to do a thing. With a vob i got from the shrink site i got it to process the file ONCE. I deleted the file it created and tried again as i could't belive after 2 days of trying everything i know to get it to do something, it actually did it !! so i wanted to see it again. YUP !! of course, you guessed it (ooo , your so sly , how did you know what i was going to say :-)...)cant get it to do it again. I thought it was my machine but now it does the sdame thing on a clean machine i am wondering if the downloaded file to install VE is anygood (possible bad version?) or more likely the FRENCH have sabotaged me...(HEY YOU FRENCH i'm AUSTRALIAN , NOT a KIWI !!!...we have LONG memories down under.....)with a bad vob trailer....
Thing is it VE reads the file and i can see what i am supposed to be seeing (cells?) i just cant get it to do anything with it...
hmmmm is it long live JAC CHIRAC or a corruped version of VE ?
regards

Try this link (http://mpucoder.kewlhair.com/Derrow/Vobedit06.zip) for VOBEdit. It's from its maker's site, so you are safe.
What are you trying to do with it, though? Can you use it to demux the VOB's? Don't worry about previewing, unless you have an external software DVD player installed or at least the necessary (don't ask me what they are, sorry) codecs. Try doom9 for the codecs.

That link won't work due to anti-leeching. You have to visit www.mpucoder.com/derrow/ to download. Or download from www.doom9.org/software2.htm#vobtools

It worked for me. I cliked on it, a new Nescape window fired up and I was subsequently asked whether I want to open or save it. I even saved it, just to see if it works.

Hi Artronic
Well i will try to download again but the first time i got it off mpucoder.
I am trying to get a vob i downloaded to become an asset i can use to place in my movies. It is one of those cheesy dolby trailers. The water ones are pretty good i reckon. (know anywhere else i can find similar stuff - i like'em)
Anyhow they are vob only, nothing else. That is when u download them they are only a single vob file nothing else. So i need to give them an ifo and a bup file and a VTS file
As i say i follow along reading a guide using vobedit but at the part where VE is supposed to create a new file it does nothing ? it just blinks and goes back to the main screen. I check in the folder i set for the new file to be written to but there is never anything there ?
Same for ifo edit. Nothing happens. I am totaly confused.
@ Mr mpucoder
any ideas ?
thanks fellas

Can you post the link for the guide you're using?
I've always used VOBEdit successfully to demux VOB's.
You need to use the re-authoring feature of IFOEdit to remux streams and get IFO's. You could also try the "Create IFO's" function of IFOEdit to simply get the IFO for that VOB.
