View Full Version : "My little Eye" PAL & where to start from?

Dear all,
I'm trying to back-up the title "my litle eye" (in PAL). There are 6 VTSs in the title and all but #5 & 6 use dup VOB ids...
Now this is above me... Usually when I encounter a tittle with say one VTS with dup ids, I rebuild this VTS manually in scenarist, copy it to Doitfast4U's project VIDEO_TS and everything is fine. With this one I'm not really sure where to start from !
All help is geatly appreciated.
I uploaded the "Copy2Clipboard" output from ifoedit to (case sensitive):

Tnx in advance

couldn't you just use DIF4U as normal *it will uncheck the PGCs that have dupe vobids* and encode as normal. then use scenaid to generate your script. the import the scenaid script into scenarist. this should rebuild each VTS that has dupe vobids. well that works for me at least.

sorry t610425 but i could not access those ifos?
anyway, its as charpunk has stated. if there are duplicate vobids within a vts then DIF4U will deslect them and you can manually recreate them in scenarist later.
see Eyes Onlys 'Finding Nemo - duplicate vobids' guide in the guides section at doom9.
if however the structure is such that the pgs have re-used vobids AND unique vobids in them, then i am afraid that you will have to demux and reauthor by vobid.
for that i suggest you check out d3s7s' new program 'Scenaid' to create your scripts for you.
good luck with your project

@charpunk
What confuses me is that 4 (main inclusive) out of 6 vts have dup ids, so what bitrate should I encode? Actually I have a dir that contains the by PGC rip from doitfast4u and a second one that has the by vobid rip, but I think I need a bit of coaching to get me started, because right now I'm just confused...
@jel
Re the txt files, if you copy and paste the link to explorer, they will show (I tested it and it works), I think the site does not allow refering from another site or something.
I'll take a look at the finding nemo guide of course.
tnx both for your help

this is for the PGC rip directory:
open up DIF4U, and it should deselect the PGCs that contain duplicate vobids. now just hit do it and it will process your title. if you're using reauthorist, you can set the bitrates there. don't worry about the PGCs that were unchecked at this point. just set the bitrate for your main movie and extras if you have any on the disc.
now just encode as normal. when it's done, instead of hitting author in reauthorist, open up scenaid *if you don't have it, get it at sceneaid.com (http://www.sceneaid.com)* and select the directory where DIF4U process directory. when it's done scanning the directory, generate the scenaid script. this will automatically reconstruct the PGCs that had duplicate vobids. now import the script into scenarist, and check in the layout tab to see if the PGCs that were unchecked are there.
after scenaid came out, i use it for all of my titles that have duplicate vobids and it works everytime.
takis,
yup worked no problem - sorry i was feeling lazy for a sunday...
anyways had a quick look at them and yes, as charpunk has said, you can do this by pgc demux.
when you fire up DIF4U simply check that the duplicate vobids pgcs are deselected - ie:
vts_01 - pgc 13 and pgc 14 are the same (one should be automatically deselected)
vts_02 - pgc 1 and pgc 2 are the same (again, one should be deselected.)
vts_03 pgc 1 equals (pgc 2, 3, 4, 5)
vts_04 (pgc 1, 2,3, 4, 5) equals pgc 6.
@charpunk
i didnt know that sceaid reconstructed the duplicate pgcs for you ... very impressive :D

What confuses me is that 4 (main inclusive) out of 6 vts have dup ids, so what bitrate should I encode?
I now realise that this is a stupid question! dup vob ids do not affect bitrate of course :o since they take no space!
Well I told you that I need a bit of coaching to get me started, because right now I'm just confused... :D
Things are always clearer in the morning, thank god...
Back on trak, tnx again guys

Well here is the rest:

Mois don't understand!!
Actually I noticed that after I manually created VTS02 that has two titles with 5 angles each that use the same VOBid. Copied VTS_02_01.VOB to VIDEO_TS and ran ScenAid.
It did create all the dup VOB ids, but it did not create any subs for VTS01-PGC14, log is available at:
http://takis.host.sk/ScenAid.LOG.txt (copy link to browser)
I tried to manually import subs but scenarist:
1. came back with the informative message : ***** Error *****
2. Instead of using the selected sub stream created a new one
3. Will not allow me to delete the "Highlight" after deleting all sub streams...
Last but not least some of the forced subs have a camera image and when u select a feature in the original DVD, and this sub is displayed you push enter and VTS02 multiangle PGC1 (or 2?) plays. Is that seamless branching?
EDIT:
1st it doesn't look seamless to me, it takes some time,
2nd it's id 0x31 that has the camera icon

gia soy re Taki!!!
i am new here, but for the last part you mention (subtitles displaying a camera), this is a Button Over Video (BOV) thing. Try searching for BOV (actually there is a thread of my own about Spiderman and BOV) and use Infuenza's guide for it.

@nick0s thanks niko, but really I'm along way before dealing with bov...
@d3s7: Can scenaid handle those duplicate subtitle streams ?

I am not sure I completely understand your problem, but i think there should be no issues. PGC_13 and PGC_14 in VTS_01 refer to the same track. This track should have 20 subtitle streams. If that is set i don't see why you should do anything else. That "double stream id" (e.g. (ID: 0x33,0x3e)) for some of the subtitles never causes me problems. I think that you try to reconstruct it somehow but there is no need for you to do that.
Copied VTS_02_01.VOB to VIDEO_TS and ran ScenAid.
Really confused here... At which point do you run ScenAid?
okay takis, take a deep breath and relax......think calm thoughts :D
righteeeo then, one question at a time.
tHE dOITfAST4u DVD Structure window states that :
PGCs 1..12 use subs 0x20..0x33,
PGC13 (same vob id as PGC 14) uses subs 0x20..0x30 and
PGC14 uses subs 0x31..0x33
nothing to worry about .. thats pretty standard really. the reasons for duplicate pgcs such as this is generally
1. different audio streams set as default (eg directors commentary)
2. different substreams set as default (eg BOV, factoids, etc)
3. a combination of the two
4. play all pgs
now the thing to understand is that the audio/substreams are identical for each re-used vobid, they are simply not selectable in some pgcs.
now i have come across a few instances where not all audio/subtitles were demuxed in the process so in this case you can demux those streams manually or demux by vobid.
I tried to manually import subs but scenarist:...errors please explain your process for manually importing subs. there are also some older guides @doom9 to add subtitle streams.
3. Will not allow me to delete the "Highlight" after deleting all sub streams... to be perfectly honest i dont know why you would be trying to delete your highlight layer? highlight layers are used to create buttons (as in BOV) to your substream. i believe it gets added automatically as soon as you add a substream.
as for BOV ... it can be a painfull process the first couple of times but after that it definitely gets easier.
of you can wait a week or so i will let you know when i have finished the beginners guide i am working on, which might make your life a little easier :D
hope that helps
