When I try and convert “X-men 2” on DVD to WMV9 format using Windows Media Encoder 9 and six extracted waves from Besweet using 2 passes, the encoder will stop at the second pass and freeze at 57 minutes and 14 seconds in the video. The encoder will still keep going however with the image frozen, and in the end, I get a bunch of error messages saying “An operation requested for a particular time could not be carried out on schedule (0xC00D002E).” You can see a screenshot of the error here at http://home.mindspring.com/~drrksmith/error.jpg. I don’t get this problem if I encode X-Men 2 with just one pass.
I have been able to successfully encode many other videos with 2 passes in Windows Media Encoder 9 using Besweet wave files, so it’s definitely an error with this specific movie. The video encoder I used was Intervideo, but that’s definitely not the problem as I was successfully able to encode just the video of X-men 2 using 2 passes with no problems.
I’ve tried this with the latest build of Besweet as well as the current “stable” build of Besweet, and this problem always occurs.
Here’s how to reproduce this problem:
1. Install Intervideo WinDVD from www.intervideo.com
2. Open DVD Decrypter or any other DVD ripping software and extract the video file and the 6 channel ac3 audio file from the X-men 2 DVD
3. Demux the ac3 file using any demuxing program
4. Open Besweet, and extract 6 mono wave files from the ac3 file
5. Download Windows Media Encoder 9 from http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/download/default.aspx
6. Open up Windows Media Encoder.
7. Select “Custom Session”
8. Select “both device and file” as the source.
9. Select the extracted vob file as the video file source.
10. Select multichannel wave source as the audio source, click configure, and browse for the 6 wavs you extracted.
11. Go to the Output tab and uncheck “pull from encoder” and check “encode to file” and type in a file location.
12. Go to the compression tab and select any settings you want, just as long as you enable 2 pass encoding. This problem only occurs with 2 pass encoding.
13. Click the Start Encoding button to begin encoding.
… Now the first pass will complete successfully, but the second pass will hang at around 57 minutes and 14 seconds. The encoding will continue with the image frozen, and at the end, you’ll receive a lot of errors stating “An operation requested for a particular time could not be carried out on schedule (0xC00D002E).” Please see my screenshot at http://home.mindspring.com/~drrksmith/error.jpg.
Anyway, I hope this info helps you fix this problem. In the meantime, I’ll have to settle for just 1 pass encoding of X-men 2 :).
