capturing DVD stills

Anyone know of a good program for capturing DVD video stills?

Years ago I used to have a Windoze screen capture utility that would allow me to capture high-resolution stills from a DVD movie while it was playing. Now I lost that program and it seems like everything new I try will not work. I just get a big black image. I've probably tried over a dozen different utilities and none of them work.

Any Software DVD Player has an Option to make Snapshots.

That may be true but I've never been able to get them to actually work, have you? On my Realmagic Hollywood Plus decoder the option is always greyed out, and on my PowerDVD software I've never been able to get it to capture.
