View Full Version : CVD made with DVD2SVCD (with CCE) problem using with Ulead DVD Workshop re audio mpa

hey there,

I got hold of the trial version of Ulead DVD Workshop to try out to see if it was worth moving on from using that instead of the great, but slow and old DVD Maestro. I always create 3 * 1.4gb CVD resolution files in most cases, so I then get 3 movies onto 1 dvdr.

normally this is never a problem using probs such as dvd maestro, dvd lab etc. What happened when using this app though, I first of all imported the mpv file which was fine, then added the mp2 file (had to be renamed to .mpa to accept), (I couldn't use ac3 in this case as only trial version so disabled) all made from dvd2svcd, and it showed as added ok, and also that they wouldn't need converting to dvdstandard as they were valid 224bitrate 48khz streams, so in theory there should have been no reencodign of the video stream, and no reencoding of the audio stream as both were dvd compliant files.

however, I authored the disc to its video_TS folder in order to give it a test. on it compiling, I noticed that it was skipping the video, so that was fine, but the audio it was still converting as part of the process. I checked the original files and noticed that what was originally about 140mb was now about 170mb instead so it had definately modified.

When it came back to playing the authored vob files in powerdvd, the resulting audio was way out of sync and didn't seem even remotely close.

Does anyone know why it may have changed these files and a way around it?

the files in question was an NTSC project, and from dvd2svcd I was using the Pulldown version of the mpv file rather then the encoded, so the flags were set to its 29.97 instead of its true 23.976.

my theory is potentially wondering if because of that, if its trying to time stretch the audio to match the exact length of the video without my permission?!

hope one of you can help,

thanks,
Tuck
