Try searching here for hi-val: http://forum.rpc1.org/search.php
i don't know which type you have, but I got a lot of hits searching on hi-val.
The fact that you have a 8mb buffer on your hdd, doesn't mean you can write at 8mb p/s. In fact, it's much faster , UltraDMA (or ATA) 100 means means you can write or read at 100mb/s (in theory). But you won't get ever get near 100 mb p/s.
I would try to flash the firmware, if that doesn't help it might another problem (perhaps windows?).
Good luck!
PS: try to type more understandable english, i've had to read it 3 times over ;)
