I appreciate that the majority of Doom9 members use this site for DVD backups, but to those who author from scratch is there anyone here who is familiar who professional subtitle formats. All our subs files are provided as .stl files, these cannot be opened with any of the freeware subs apps that we have found, although Subtitle Workshop lists it as a usable suffix. It displays "Format not supported". The only software we have found that will take these files is called EZconvert which will produce a Scenarist script and associated bitmaps. Our trial license has just expired and we are on the verge of purchasing it, but it is quite pricey seeing as it doesn't allow much manipulation of the subs themselves. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Do you know EZtitles (http://www.eztitles.com) ? They also created EZconvert. You can download a trial at their website. You can manipulate, export to any format etc. I've send an email for the price (no prices online). When I receive it I will let you know.

Sorry Oddyseus, but I just tried the latest version 2.50 and that will not open the .stl files we have. It tells us they are bad or unsupported. Several film companies have now sent us .stl files and all of them behave in the same way. We have found several software solutions including EZtitles and EZconvert but they tend to be very expensive seeing as we don't deal with sub files that often. Does one know of a cheaper software solution that will deal with professional subtitles?
