I posted this in the vob edit topiv and got really not much of help, dont get me wrong, the help i got just didnt do the job

The thing is like this:

Im doing v ideomixes and videoremixes on artists and for my own productions.

I saved them all as sep. VOB files.

I have now aprox 40 VOB files and want to make it to a dvd and then be able to choose tracks from a menu, also PLAY ALL

I tested DVD athitect from SonicFoundry and loved they way it works.
But the problem starts when during playback i want to skip a track, thats not possible ...

Went to DVDLab .. Really good, i can now control more visually than i could with dvd a. Like firstplay and dissable buttoncontrols during firstplay. But same problem here, Skip a movie isnt possible with the control.

I merged all my vob files into one big file, inserted chapter points. Here i noticed that the vob file have its timeline, but the time stamps is strange ...

here is a chapterfile i exported from one of the timelines:

00:00:00:000
00:04:07:000
00:04:05:000
00:11:24:000
00:15:03:000
00:18:41:000
00:04:31:000
00:26:37:000
00:05:32:000
00:36:17:000
00:40:11:000
00:45:47:000
00:49:06:000
00:52:49:000
00:56:48:000
01:00:29:000
01:03:27:000
00:05:17:000
01:12:19:000
00:03:23:000
01:19:17:000
01:22:39:000

As you see .. the vob file have multiply start points ...So wen compile this dvd with DVDLab i move to my chapter choose menu ... choose a tack.. DONT WORK ... couse the timestamps are all meshed.

Im not so stupid so im demuxing the vob file to get a m2v and a mpa file. Then open up IFoEdit and multiplex them into a new VOB file ... Its all out of synch ... Og mother of all good and evil why me?!?

- All i want is to make my 40 tracks of vob files into a dvd disk and have my menus, play all and lop the thing.. so when track 40 is finished it will END ACTION track 01 ..

Adobe Encore was a nive program aswell, but didnt skip track aswell .. so these three programs are really supergood, but i see a lack of power in adding multiply files. (or im just a stupid guy who dont read the manuals any good)

Oh yea - wheres that thread ?

Anyway - you're on the right path.

The pitfalls are:If the raw material is not IDENTICAL in bitrate and audio type you will get playback problems.
If you use seperate VOBs the "Next" and "Previos" buttons do not work
If you join VOBs you need to strip them afterwards with IfoEdit to re-write the VobSet with correct navigation parameters and timecode.

There may be more but I'm tired now - good night!

WEll the thread in vob tools i asked about some stuff with chapters etc.

All my vob files have the same bitrate for video and audio.

they all play good wile in the vob file. the timecode stamps within the vob makes it not working with chapters.

Demuxing to m2v and mpa file and then rejoin them makes it go out of synch, dont understand why.

I use VobEdit to sep the streams, openup ifoEdit to author a new DVD with the big vob file ... multiplexing them.

Im also tierd now, so how do i strip the vob file?
post when u wakeup =)

EDIT: I found in the program where split streams is .. but so many options to cross ...

Vob Extras:Strip Streams
Correct Vob-Unit....
Correct Original IFO files

Make sure you keep all streams of course.
Hope it works.

I almost wanna make this into a war ... me VS vob files

ifoedit makes my vob file into 200kb ...
Could i ask you to publish or email me a screendump on what to cross in the program?

Couse i did as you said, but vob expers where also enabled .. but tested alot of variations now, and either the file gets "to high avarage bitrate for a dvd" (dvdlab said that) and also the timecodes are there .. or the file gets 200kb big ..

I never knew that these problems would be here, i merged the mpeg files and the timecodes are there aswell. So its not jsut something to do with the vob files i asume?

I mean, i demuxed all video and audio.. alot of space are taken up.. i merged the videos and then the audio..open in dvdlab and the vieo got the strange timecode aswell.

Sorry for so newbie here on you, but i _do_ apriciate your help.

The above applies to the left hand side of the dialog - don't worry about the right side, also provide a destination directory.
In the following two dialogs you're asked which streams to keek - make sure you keep them all.
The result is a new directory with a complete DVD structure.
It can't be bigger than it was before.

If you can merge your .mpgs you can also use ReStream to re-write the timecode.
