Yes, here is your chance to browse my personal chat logs from MSN Messenger. Actually, I've removed logs from people that I know. This is logs of all of the random people on the internet that add me to their Messenger list and message me. Some are short, some are long, and some are funny. Some people I even answer. For people that are interested, it does offer an interesting glimpse at people on the internet. For those that are really interested, I made a convenient compressed file containing all of the logs so you could download and browse more easily. Also included at absolutely no charge, is a screenshot of what my desktop usually looks like when I get back to it with messages from people.

Here it is:

I feel ashamed at my country for the insane amount of dutch people in those logs.

Friday was okay, had a chat with some friends, but I really shouldn't have come to the bar on saturday. The place was filled with dressed up morons, and the back room was way too hot and moist to stay for a long time.

It is interesting that I don't speak Dutch, but my brother does. Not to many Dutch speakers in Texas. Curse them and their internet access!

Many proxies and firewalls block non-standard ports. Schools and such. I know that alexnoe will forever wonder what I have on my site.

Can't get on it either. Only thing between me and my isp is my software firewall, which shouldn't be a problem. Turned it off either way to try, still couldn't get on.

mmm, this file indeed seems problematic - or did you change something on your server Pamel ? i used to be able to connect to you, but i got timeouts yesterday and i get timeouts today :(

its not only port 81, i cannot even ping you in a normal way

That is strange. There are lots of people connecting to look at it, so I don't know why some people would be having problems and others not. I think there were less connection problems before switching to Apache. There is even someone on my same ISP that can't connect to me.

Someone can mirror, copy, edit, or do whatever the heck they want. Sell the email addresses to spammers for all I care. ;)

I wonder where that rumor started :). Do you know anyone that could've started the "small penis" thing and told it to all his/her retarded friends?

I'm not sure, but you could just ask it.

What? I'm not gonna honeypot those people. I am happy with my MSN tranquility.

The March 2004 logs are in now. Also, I'm using a new port and domain so everyone should be able to get to them now.

That was the funniest part. "There is a bed over there, and the rest of the lab over here." ... "I guess you could say that I am at work on this side of the room." :)

Consider this for a moment. The people that work in the top support jobs for MSN have access to all account information for email addresses. They have the IP addresses and times used to log into the accounts, access to all emails, address books, and Messenger contact lists. For a given person, you also have access to anyones information that they know if they have an @msn or @hotmail account. (family members/friends)

Now imagine being able to use that information to make someone think that there is an underground organization that has access to all of their information.

Now realize that I had that job. Sometimes life is funny.

(p.s. I only used my powers for good. Honest. I just really hate stupid people (http://www.commo.de/StupidPeople/).)

Its that time again. This is a somewhat special occasion because I have broken the previous record with a full 389 chat logs for last month! I really hope that I can break 400 in May.

Also, in addition to the new logs (http://commo.de/StupidPeople/), I have added a FAQ (http://commo.de/StupidPeople/StupidPeople.html), and updated the Stupid People Picture (http://commo.de/StupidPeople/stupidpeople.png).

How can you actually live with that? Isn't it time you changed this:

Into this?

Even I get bored after browsing those logs for more than 5 minutes, and you get confronted with it everyday.

Ironically, your screenshot captured the problem. You see, one of the "amazing features" of MSN Messenger is that when you select to only let people on your allow list to message you, it automatically forces the option to see when people add me to their contact list.

There are a couple of problems with this:
1. You actually have to select to block the person and also not add them to your contact list. Its a couple of extra clicks, and if you don't do it, the window comes back all the time.
2. The more people you have in your Allow/Block list, the less stable MSN Messenger becomes with handling contacts. Right now, I have hundreds in both, and its usually a few days before I can add someone to my list and actually see them.
3. As part of being unstable with the large Allow/Block list, when you tell it to block someone it often doesn't take. This means that you keep getting the alert window for the one person, you do the several clicks to close it, and then it is back later. It also means (for whatever reason) that the person can still message me for some reason.

The funny thing is that I know the maximum number of 'supported' people in the allow/block list is 255. I have always been waaaaaay beyond that. I have even tried other clients. Trillian, for instance just crashes while trying to download and build the list. I posted about it in their forums and the devs told me it was my system. Idiots. I told them it happens on all PCs and they didn't respond. But at least I'm not bitter...

Besides, its not like I actually read what any of them write. Sure, they are annoying like popup windows, but they stay minimized. They are mostly out of the way. And I like to think of it as my little way of striking out against all of the stupid people out there by making sure they get a little more spam, and maybe a stalker or two. We can only hope. ;)

Interesting, interesting. I now understand you. And I have now gained more appreciation for my small 31-contacts list, and 13 blocked list. I don't even need any groups :).

Over time these logs will serve as record of the deterioration of the English language, although it's hard to see how it could fall much further. If I was reading that last one right (and I'm not sure I was, it was hard work) he was admonishing you for using it correctly

Wow.

(I also feel the need to apologize on behalf of everyone in the UK who has a measurable I.Q!)

I wanted to tell a story, but don't want to start a new thread, and this seems as good a place as any. In fact, I think it will fit right in with some of these logs. Anyway..

Today I helped my brother evict a crazy Jesus freak. I don't mean for that term to be offensive because this guy was well past your normal, go to church on Sunday, Christian. In addition to a couple of bibles per room he had a bunch of pamphlets and literature, Christian CDs, DVDs and videos. He had several dozen printout stuck to the walls, all with different sayings like "Jesus loves you!", "John 3:16", ect plus hand written post-its with notes like "Dear Lord, please give me a wife. Please give me a home, Please Give me strength".

He also had a technical side. He had 4 phone lines, connected to 4 different answering machines, a couple of computers, 3 tvs in one room, with various wires running all thru the apartment. He "made" his own furniture out of various rough cuts of wood and metal brackets (a table and a 'computer stand'). To make a wall light he used a bracket (like the kind you make shelves out of), screwed it to a rough cut of wood and screwed the whole thing to the wall. He then took a small table lamp and scotch taped it to the shelf. He had another wall lamp in the same room where he took a ceiling lamp, mounted it on a rough cut of timber and screwed it into a corner, then he spliced the wiring to a regular electrical cord and plugged it in a wall outlet.

Being this eccentric he had to have an artistic side. He had several easels and lots of painting supplies. There were only 3 full paintings there, 2 smaller ones of flowers, and a huge 5 ft X 6ft painting of the beach. They weren't very good, kinda high school impressionist. There were a dozen other canvases with just writing like "Praise the Lord" on them.

The best thing I can say about the guy was that he didn't have much furniture (because I would have been forced to move it, and it was on the second floor). No bed (he slept on an inflatable mattress), no couch, no real tables. He had 1 large recliner chair and 1 regular chair, 2 folding chairs plus several folding chairs and a couple of night stands. It wasn't like he was entirely broke either, in addition to the computers, tvs, ect I mentioned, he had several expensive toys like 2 large remote control airplanes, a camcorder, nice SLR 35mm camera, and other stuff.

The apartment required a lot of cleaning, but it was mostly because of all the papers everywhere. The main room, a large kitchen, was covered in newspapers and various junk. It was actually pretty clean in a hygienic sense, just very messy. It took 3 people about 6 hours to move everything out and clean up the junk. Since we didn't want to throw anything away that he cared about (lest he kill us :)) so we saved almost everything except newspapers.

Did you try Gaim ? http://gaim.sf.net
It works like a charm on Windows and Linux and is opensource as well (the most active project in sourceforge).

Yes, I actually tried it just a couple of weeks ago for the first time in almost a year and a half. It has grown a lot since then and works much better than Trillian and some other clients I have used. It also does not crash when logging in to the MSN account. However, there is a lack of certain features and a memory foot print that is keeping me away for the moment. I am sure for many people it is perfect right now, but it still needs to wait a little while longer for myself. I expect it will be the client that I use in the somewhat near future.

I admit to only scanning through this thread, not reading every single post. Why exactly are you so popular? How do all these people link to you? I'm hoping I didn't miss the answer or any clues to the answer!!

Its been a while. The only real change is that at the beginning of September I changed to using the logger built into MSN Messenger 6.2. Do now the logs are stored in .xml files for viewing. I don't think their better, but I am to lazy to change to a real logger after having to do a fresh install after installing SP2.

New logs viewable here:
