Hi!

I have multple wav files that have different volume and I want to change them so that the average volume in all files is nearly equal. I do not mean simple normalize, because it doesn't help if a file is mostly quiet and only has one loud passage. I think it has to be a combination of normalization and compression, but is there any program that can bring everything to one volume level so I don't have to adjust the volume for every wav?

Thanks

Setting volume (normalising) and or compression levels in wav files is a subjective thing - each person will like different final values.

Cool Edit Pro is the software I have used for many years for this purpose. It is quite expensive to buy though, perhaps you might like to have a play with Nero's settings?

It has many available filters for wav files, just stick them in as if you are going to make a music CD,after dragging the wav file across, right click on the wave file and select "audio editor" (Nero 6, earlier version have direct filter access), this is similar to, but not as powerful as Cool Edit Pro.

Hello.
You can use "Sonic Batch Converter". Very good.
