VirtualDubMod 1.5.10.1 will not start

This problem just began tonight.

When I try to start VDubMod I get a "busy" cursor for a second, then nothing. It is not running in the task list, and no msg appears in the eventviewer. This happens from the shortcut, and from clicking on the executable. It ran fine on this system a few days ago. And VirtualDub 1.5.10 is running fine.

I am running WinXP Pro, and no hardware changes have been made since I last ran VDubMod - I installed AVG the other day, but stopping the program and disabling it via msconfig (followed by a reboot) did not help. I also dled the latest "bugfix" version, and no joy.

I smell a windows issue, but anything that avoids a clean install for a month or two is welcome.

Hmmm. I re-installed AviSynth 2.53 (writing over 2.54) and the problem seems to have cleared up.

Maybe this will help someone else. Sorry I cannot pin the problem to either app any better than this.
