When I use DVD Decrypter to rip a DVD with two subtitle streams (I rip my DVD by chapter), the resulting VOBs appear to have no subtitles. When I use PowerDVD to play these resulting DVDs, I cannot select the subtitle (that option is dimmed).

Any idea how i can rip the subtitle dreams in this case? Thanks.

Read the DVD playback guide. Simply loading the VOB files will not work.

You can use Create IFOs button in IfoEdit to create new IFO files for your VOBs. This would allow you to see the subtitles. You'll have to read the guides about changing the color of the subtitles since they'll all become green. Original colors are stored in the original IFOs.

Thanks for all your help. The part that I dont understand is... say, that I have two DVDs. For DVD A, there are two subtitle streams and after ripping this DVD by chapter into VOB files using DVD Decrypter, when I play one of the resulting VOB files, I can select one of the two subtitle streams... or none at all.

However, for DVD B, there are also two subtitle streams but after doing the same ripping procedure, and when I play the resulting VOB files, I cannot select any of the subtitle streams. The subtitle selection in PowerDVD is dimmed.

I really do not mind about the color of the subtitle... green is fine with me. But I just need the subtitles to be embedded into the VOB files (better yet, to have one of the subtitles streams encoded on the video but I know this is hard). By the way, just that you know... this maybe a silly thing but I have no plan to keep the IFO files. I am just planning to keep the VOB files as I can play them without other supporting files... and this fits my purpose.

dimmer, I will respond to your other thread separately. Thanks.
