i recently tried to backup my copy of league of extraordinary gentlemen using first smartripper then dvd decrypter and intervideo's
dvdcopy to burn the dvdr. the backup worked perfectly on my pc,
but would not play in my phillips dvdr70 recorder. after playing
the original dvd in the phillips, it now plays the backup without
problem. this has left me wondering if its some kind of copy protection/authentication of the dvd or just a glitch in the player.
if its a copy protection then surely the copy should never work or
require authentication each time it is inserted into the player?
dvd decrypter claimed the dvd was encrypted using css/cppm tho from what i have read in this forum if cppm was used the dvd would be unreadable/unplayable on a pc, and dvd2avi would certainly not be able read the vobs.
i whould be interested to hear if anyone experienced this or has
any insights.
