Hi I just want to know what you think is the fastest codec for analoque capture (from a TV-card), and I want a compressed file using realtime single pass capture.

I have tried DIVX (latest) and XVID (beta 3), and for me the best is XVID.
However, I have no experience with any other codec like Nero (if available), VP6, RV10, WMV9 - have you tried any of these (or others) and what do you think of them?

Thanks
Steen

If you ask me, for direct captures DivX or XviD are the best options, if you need a fast and heavily compressing codec. MJPEG is much faster, of course, but you get much higher filesizes as well. Nero's MPEG-4 is not available as a free codec, and the other codecs you mentioned are too slow for direct capturing purposes.

do Divx and XVid support INTERLACED YV12 Colorspace for capturing?
progressive YV12 destroys the image....
