Help me im stupid

I used some guide here and smartripped a dvd from europe, then I used ifo edit and clicked "region" and it said it removed region-lock. From the guide I got the impression that I was supposed to burn the .ifo's with all the .vobs and stuff as data, which i did with easy creator. For some reason nero won't recognize my dvd-burner so I don't have much choice. So is it me burning it as data that's wrong or did I not unlock it correctly? I know I am being vague but i am not sure what else to say. It's a picky sony dvd player, i burned to a dvd+r and this sony does play those.
