Hi Guys, I'm new with the RCE Protection. My last DVD I bought was Malibus Most Wanted. RC2 PAL Germany Warner Bros. This disc is a two layer disc. The size of the VOB-Files was 4.31 GB so I decided to do a 1:1 copy. I used DVDDecrypter in ISO Read Mode and got a 4.92 GB ISO...

Hey what the ###### is this!!! I started DVDDecrypter again and used the File Mode and ripped all Files to the HDD. I got a folder with 4.31 GB as the Explorer told me...

So it must be the RCE Protection with 610 MB. So what do the RCE Protection exactly?

Normaly I it will be found on regional 1 discs, but now also on few regional 2 discs.

So I think the next DVDs I do in File Mode ...

RCE Protection won't have caused that discrepancy. RCE is just really settings/flags in the IFO file. I've never ripped a DVD to ISO image, but I would have thought the ISO being bigger than the combined size of the files normal (?)

yes ripping as iso should be a bit bigger than just ripping files.

Amnon82 - did you check if the dvd has any pc content ? that is extras like screensavers or webpages or interactual player etc. all that stuff gets ripped in iso mode aswell where file mode you just rip the vobs and ifos.

An ISO is a copy of the entire disk. Rip to files only copies the files in the VIDEO_TS directory.

Perhaps the R2 release of Malibu Most Wanted has 610 MB of DVD-ROM extras.

No DVDDecrypter wrote definitely Yes for RCE Protection!

... and another RCE protected Disc: Matchstick man (Tricks is the german title). Also form WB.
