Simple VHS Transfer to DVD

Apologies up front since I'm new to this game but I'm looking for some very basic advice on how to archive my increasingly old VHS (and DV) material onto DVD.
I have the following kit which hopefully will suffice - just need instruction on how !

- Windows XP Professional
- P4 3G Processor
- 250G Hard Drive
- 256M RAM
- NVidia GeForce FX 5600 Card
- Sony DRU-510A DVD/CD Rewritable Drive
- Audigy Sound Card
- Panasonic NVDX100B Digital Camcorder
- Good ol' VCR

Any advice and instruction on suitable software / connections / cables etc would be greatly appreciated.
