Can anyone recommend something I can use to do timed DV captures from Firewire (preferably free)? It only has to be something simple - like DVIO but with a built in timer, allowing me to specify a start and stop time. I've tried AVI_IO which claims it sort of works with DV, but couldn't get it to work.

The other possibility I thought of is using DVIO but with some sort of Macro programme that simulates keystrokes or mouse movements - anyone recommend something that does this?

Amcap and DVapp both have a maximum capturing time option and are freeware.

I'd recommend ScenalyzerLive. It's a great DV-Capturing-App featuring
both, a stop timer (for already running recordings) and a
start-and-stop timer. You should give it a try. It's not free though, but it isn't expensive either.

I wholeheartedly agree with Abaddon666. Scenalyzer is an excellent capture proggie. I've had excellent results with using it with my Radeon 7200 and an ADVC-100 and now my ADVC-300.

Well worth the relatively low price!
