I know 2 DVDs have recently been released (T2 extreme, and some other movie) that are in high definintion format. I was wondering if there are any DVD players (standalone) that can read the disc, and output it to a HDTV television at full resolution?

I know I can play the movie on my computer, and output it through DVI to my DVI input on my TV, but I wanted a more compact solution. Actually I have never tried to output video playing from my computer using S-Video let alone DVI, but it seems logical that it can be done.

Any information, websites, and comments are much appreciated!

Thanks for taking your time to read this post! :)

Oops, I thought I was in the right forum. Can someone move this to the HDTV/Tivo forum? Thanks.

Those aren't true HD-DVD, just DVD-ROM with microsoft WM9 files. The DVD Forum has not decided on the final HD-DVD format yet.

Thanks for the info! :p

I was wondering if there are any DVD players (standalone) that can read the disc

If they are just WM9 files, then isn't WM9 a HD format that the DVD forum could be considering to pass?

Would the DVI output method work well on HDTV TVs?

Will the final format of HD-DVDs be able to be read on a progressive scan DVD player (or even a standard DVD player)?

I know I'm asking a lot of questions, but issues like these really interest me (I just bought a 32 inch HD TV as a replacement TV).

Once again, thanks for any info!!!
