Is it possible? I own a lot of a DVDs, and I'd like to make backups of them. But to burn em all on DVD-Rs will be very costly, so I'm looking for a way to compress them, BUT keeping the Surround sound, such as Dolby Digital and DTS, maybe reducd the size to 2gb, so 2 movies can fit on ONE dvd. So, in short: Can I make DivX/SVCD with 5.1 audio?.

Hey dude! I'm a member of a DVD-rental thingie where they send you the DVD's you like by mail
You only rent this DVDs!!! If You buy them then we can talk again. Only rent it and copy it is illegal! And I don't think that people here will help You so. If You wrote: I've a DVD with DTS and I want a DivX with DTS. Can somebody tell me if this is possible? ... than I think we would help You. Sorry, but:sly:

So in short: Yes You can make DivX + AC3 5.1 and SVCD + MP2 5.1. Also is it possible to make a DVD with more than one movie on it. I did the complete Season 1 of 24 on one DVD, which was about 23 Hours Fullscreenmovie!!!
So I think I'm Your right man. Frist You have to check if DivX + AC3 (DTS you can also do, but there is no free Decoder for playing it) will be playable on Your SAP. SVCD + MP2 5.1 is hard to produce and only work on few SAPs. The best thing is to encode the Movies in MPEG2 and burn them on DVD. I did a cute guide on my page www.dvdr-page.tk for 6 Movies on one DVD. Visit my page, read some guides of mine and be happy.
You can ask me always here and also on my page if You have any problems.;)
