The new features and important changes include:
1. A new "Special Play Tools" mode includes the ability to individual chapters (or chapter playlists) in any order; playback from a user-specified point for a period of time; play the first nn seconds of chapters; set default values for menu, audio and sub-picture languages as well as Parental Level information.
2. Closed captions are now fully supported.
3. New DVD Log records all navigation commands and events, user commands, prohibited user operations. All entries are identified by the current Video Title (File) Set, Title and PGC numbers.
4. The IFO Analyser now examines and reports on the VMG as well as the VTSs. The analysis data is gathered immediately prior to commencing navigation so that it can be viewed at any time without delay.
5. The Player no longer relies on the PGC header's movie running time: this is frequently inaccurate. Instead it examines the Cell data to calculate running times.
6. During playback, the Video Title (File) Set is identified as well as the Title number within that File Set - "Title x in IFO-y".
7. Normally a movie will have the same number of chapters as it does cells. Occasionally the number of cells will be greater than the number of chapters (if, for example there is a layer-break or a short clip appended to the title); in such cases, the Status Bar reflects this.
