I just tried my new setup and I got huge white bands in the middle of my capture for a few seconds every now and then. The capture was relatively short, but they would appear at random intervals throughout the capture.

Here's an example:

I was capturing at 720x480 Uncompressed using iuVCR. The source was an old drivers ed tape with pretty degraded quality. The video was all there as I captured though, I didn't see any kind of problems like this in the source tape.

My setup is an SVHS VCR using the S-Video out going into my GeForce4 mx460-vtp. Audio cable to sound card. (if this is somehow relevant) And, as I said, capturing with iuVCR.

I have no idea why it would do this... maybe one of you guys could shed some light on it. I would greatly appreciate this.

Would I perhaps get better results using Adobe Premier to capture my video? I will try that and see what I get, but I would still like to know what would cause a problem like this.

Your trouble may be macrovision protection in your capture card's driver.

See http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=62836 for one example, or search on "macrovision" for more.

BINGO! That seemed to do it.

I searched for white bands, bands, and whatever, and nothing came up.

Now I feel stupid that you referenced another post. Either way, those drivers worked like a charm.

Thanks jggimi.
