Hello,
Is there a way to rip or extract the multiplexed SVCD subtitles form the SVCD files? (the subtitles multiplexed into the SVCD using SubMux)
I want to make DVDs from my SVCDs but keeping the subtitles working :)
Any ideas how to do this?
Thnx,
Kronuz.

pepipocpoc is the expert on this one, he will probably post a more exhaustive answer when he sees this thread ... you can do it using vob2sub, you get a timed script plus bitmaps. The subtitle script is usable for submux, other formats will need editing of the script.

:D :D Oh yes! 10x, steve!!
Well, let's see. As I often say, you should have performed a little search :sly: .
Anyway. As I get more confident now, I'll give you some tracks (but don't forget to search the next time ;) ).
What I do is :
1-rename *.mpg to input.mpg
2-launch vob2sub, get the right settings ; you'll have a *.sub and a whole bunch of *.bmp
3-here comes the trickiest part (at least for me). I have to edit *.sup to make it match with the srt format. So I use UltraEdit, good prog, but you may prefer any other prog that handles macros and column editing.
vob2sub gives :
en10000.bmp 00:00:22,90 00:00:25,33 256 80 224 386
en10001.bmp 00:00:25,46 00:00:29,37 320 120 192 366
en10002.bmp 00:00:29,50 00:00:32,37 328 76 188 386
en10003.bmp 00:00:32,50 00:00:36,61 344 120 180 366
and you need to have :
1
00:00:22,900 --> 00:00:25,330
en10000.bmp
2
00:00:25,460 --> 00:00:29,370
en10001.bmp
3
00:00:29,500 --> 00:00:32,370
en10002.bmp
4
00:00:32,500 --> 00:00:36,610
en10003.bmp
so buid your own macro, run and save as *.srt
4-when done, you'll have to correct some "wrong header" (as far as I understood Carles, who was a pioneer...) The fact is that if you don't, your subs will be excentered. So. The best to do is to use a prog that can batch-change the color-palette of your bmps. I use JascPaintShopPro. You have to use the 16 basic colors to match with the next prog.
5-use srt2sup (the prog, not the member :D ) to convert your new bmp-based srt file. This prog is quite straightforward if you use the a4.03 version. Open as bmp, select (all...) the subs you want to keep, go to the global settings and check the colors are the ones used in your bmps. Very important. Run. It's quite long, but not that much.
The next parts are up to you.
Let me know.
PS : I'll never thank enough smiller667 and srt2sup for their very useful, kind and patient help :) .
