View Full Version : NeroVision Express crashes with AVI

I am trying to author a DVD using NeroVision Express.

I have an AVI file which plays without any problem in viewers, including DivX and Nero ShowTime, but when I try to load it into NeroVision Express the progam crashes instantly. It just blinks off, with no error message.

I've used the same file in VirtualDub, and in TMPGEnc Plus (to create an MPEG file). So the AVI file seems okay for both viewers and editing software.

What could cause this kind of crash? Thanks for any help.

Why don't you use the MPEG file you created with TMPGEnc in your project instead of AVI. All video will be converted to MPEG anyway, and TMPGEnc has pretty good reputation in this aspect.

I used TMPGEnc to convert the avi file, but Nero also gives me an error message when I try to load the MPEG.

I know I could just throw out the avi file and start over again, but I'm curious as to why this particular file plays normally (and causes no trouble with either TMPGEnc or VirtualDub), but causes Nero to crash.

I had the same or a simular problem with one of 4 avi files I converted. The problem was somewhere in the audio. Before I coud convert the file without Nero Vision chrashing I had to convert the audio to uncompresed pcm. The audio was not vbr.

I did btv get a new strange problem later on, I used Vision Express to make and burn a dvd (rw) of the 4 avi files. The result played fine in power dvd on my pc but not on my standalone. I had deleted the 4 avis. I copied the video_ts folder to my hd. burnt it back on to the dvd using Nero (in standard make video dvd mode) and did finaly get a working dvd.
