When I use the latest verison of tmpg plus to convert an xvid file with an external wav file to vcd the audio is just a silent track, i tried using external audio encoders with tmpg and its still silent. Weird thing is when i open the wav file with winamp i get a 'nullsoft waveform decoder 2.06 error missing codec' but i can play the wav file in windows media player. I never had this problem before it just happpened.

I've the same problem.
I use TMPG DVD source creator, but the audio is silent.
I've tried reinstalling the codec packs, TMPG, no change.
   :(
And I need help immediately.....:(

Why don't you guys separately convert video to .m1v elementary stream (MPEG-1), and audio to .mp2 stream (MPEG-1 Layer II). Then you can mux them together in MPEG tools. Don't forget to set MPEG type to VCD if you're planning to burn a VCD.

Sure something is missing with the wave files. It is probably audio encoded with another codec, but with a wav header. You should first manage to convert the offending wav files to regular uncompressed wav audio.

Dimmer is right,
you can better use mp2 to create a vcd, either do it his way, or convert the wav to mp2 and use it under audio source in tmpgenc
