standalone DVD-player problem

I have a DAEWOO standaolone DV-player. I bought it one year ago and everything was well since now.
It sows this problem: when I play a movie,(no DVD-R but standard DVD-ROM ) it randomly starts to freezes-and-go: the movie freezes for half a second then go then freezes ecc..
When it happens, if I turn-off the player, then turn-on and play the movie from the same point everything works well..
What's the problem? Any ideas? Is the player K.O.?

Had a similar problem with my xbox.

Umm, could be it's overheating due to dust buildup.

Heat in the transport area could effect playback. As the machine ages the laser can loose alignment. Any number of possible problems could lead to this behavior.
