Using my burner, a Sony DRU-120A, I've backed up over 50 of my dvd's(single layer only so far),with only 4 not playing on my set-top player, a Sony DVP-NS400D.About 40 of the blanks were Memorex 2.4x -RICOHJPN-R00-001.About 10 of them were (jewel case)Memorex 4x -RICOHJPN-R01-002.All 4 of the "coasters" played fine in my pc drive.I recently bought a 25 disc spindle of 4x Memorex- RICOHJPN-R01-002(just like the jewel cased) and of the first 5 that I've used, none play in the set-top! After the first 2 I upgraded my burner firmware, but that didn't make any difference.I've always used the same software (Smart Ripper,IFO Edit, and Instant CD/DVD) and procedures for all.So.... is it possible to get a "bad batch" like that? Also, for my info, what is the popular consensus using "session at once/close session" or "disc at once/close disc"?

Never mind ..... not that I was getting any answers anyway ... but I discovered something. For all of my previous backups I have been using "session at once/close session" and only had very few problems. I changed to "disc at once/close disc" and the last 10 that I have burned worked perfectly! Go figure, eh?

I was able to do one successful backup using shrinkdvd. Then converting it to ISO with Imagetools classic and burning with DVD Decrypter. The 2nd one I tried however had pixalation halfway into the movie.

I have abandoned these disks for data backup only and recently bought some Ritek GO4's from www.newegg.com. They work like a charm, used shrinkdvd and Image burn only.
