Hi all and mainly DvdShrink,
recently I tried to backup my DVD: TRAVIS More than us. This is a music video with about 8 gig and five chapters with a fourfold multiangle view. First of all I saw , to backup the complete video leads to a compression of about 50 %. This seemed a bit to heavy and I want to get rid of the prosecution intro. Si I decided to reauthor and the problems begun. I simply dropped all items into the DVD compilation window, and wnated to decide afterwards what to skip. But now the complete size of the DVD exploded to 25 gig. I tried several ways to deselect items , but none leads to acceptable volume below 4.7 gig.

May be DvdShrink can comment on this ?

I think DVDShrink (the author) visits the digital digest forums (forum.digital-digest.com) more frequently than he visits here. If you need an official response from the author, you might want to post your question there.

The reason that the multi-angle DVD blows up so big in reauthor mode is that you're basically taking one title (i.e. one program stream) with mutilple angles and turning it into multiple titles. When you do that, DVDShrink needs to create duplicates of all the cells that the titles share in common. To put it simply, you're creating 4 differrent copies of the movie.

You'll note that I didn't call this a bug - it's just how DVDShrink works. I don't know of any way to get DVDShrink to re-author preserving multiple angles, and I don't think there is one. I'm pretty sure that to keep multiple angles, you need to keep the original IFOs, and the only way to do that in DVDShrink is to do full disk.

I suspect the only way you're going to be able to back up that disk the way you want is to do full disk removing all audio for extras and shrinking the extras to still frames (that's what I do). Either that or explore your options for stripping the disk.
