I just grabbed the latest version of DVDShrink.. when opening Freddy vs Jason, it crashes at 95% (the initial analyzing of the data). Can anyone confirm this or is it just me? Other DVDs work just fine...

What regional DVD do you have? I had no trouble with Region 1, NTSC.

If you do have the Region 1 version, it should have widescreen and fullscreen. I have successfully used this guide (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=67564) on keeping widescreen without having to transcode anything. There's also another post on this thread's page specifically on this R1 movie. Give it a try. ;)

If you ripped it to your hd in .iso mode and it worked then yeah it's dvdshrink. If you haven't then it's most likely your disc is scratched.

I had this happen several times to me, I ripped using Dvd-Decrypter and then when I opened it with shrink or recode 2 it sometimes crashes or failed during the analysis.
I found that some of my rips from my dvd-rom player wouldn't work, so I put it in my burner and ripped it and it worked fine, or sometimes just a 2nd rip and it worked. This happened to me with Scream3 just yesterday!
DVD-Decrypter normaly seems to catch bad disc and it fails to rip, though sometimes the rip seems to work fine but later when running it shrink or recode2 or IC8 I found a bad spot.
