1.
when set the EHQ no. for rv10, if I want quality as "rv9-ehq default 65", I should set 75, right? because according to this:
100: RV 10 max
85 : RV 10 high
75 : RV 10 medium
65 : RV 10 Low = RV 9 High
57 : RV 9 Medium
50 : RV 9 Low
but when I try to compare encode with old gui using rv9-ehq 65 and new gui using rv10 ehq 75, the former one is obviously faster... why?
(all using 1-pass vbr)
2.
Where's the temporary file during convertion saved? can we change it?if default set to c drive somewhere and the output file set in d drive, then it has to be moved from c: to d: after finish conversion? if the output filesize is large then it would be quite troublesome...

EHQ 75 is slower than EHQ 65 (EHQ 65 = original RV9)

no, I mean old gui which use 65 as rv9-ehq (not rv9) normal.
i.e. compare:
rv10(=rv9-ehq) medium using new gui with producer10 (=75)
with
rv9-ehq medium using old gui with old producer (=65)
I expect the speed is the same because both are in fact rv9-ehq medium, just name and ehq no. setting different in differnet version, but dont' know why the former one is slower in my testing...
references:
old producer (rv9-ehq)
65 = Default : improved efficiency for high action
70 = High : same as 65 + better mode decisions, better representation of high motion
80 = Extra High: same as 70 + best possible mode decisions, very high accuracy motion representation
50 = Fast : not recommended, use only for Live capture encoding
producer10 (=rv9-ehq)
100: RV 10 max
85 : RV 10 high
75 : RV 10 medium

RV9 and 10 are the same. If you use different EHQ # you will get different speed. high, medium and fast changed with producer builds.

I am not sure I understand the question, but the EHQ numbers are the same no matter which codec name (rv9/rv10) you are using, since those map directly to encoder complexity. It is the (high/medium/low) settings that map differently for the two codec names. Here is the mapping, as I put in the long and winding Real 10 platform thread:
85 RV10 high
75 RV10 medium
65 RV9 high RV10 low
57 RV9 medium
50 RV9 low
Thus, RV10 Medium will be slower, better quality, than RV9 High. RV9 High is the same as RV10 Low (same EHQ number). So if you use EHQ numbers the mapping above is right to left, if you use codec name + High/Medium/Low, the mapping is left to right, to find corresponding EHQ number.
Hope this helps.

well, sorry to bother you, but let me clarify my question again:
1. rv10 equal rv9+ehq but not rv9, right?
2. I used to encode with 1-pass vbr rv9+ehq normal (=65) before
3. I want to use the same quality in new gui with new producer, so I choose rv10 normal (=75), is that correct?
4. if correct, then my question is why it is slower in rv10 case.

1. yes
2. ok
3. no, see above table
4. if you would like to continue with RV9@65 (this is not really EHQ quality, corresponds to the good old RV9 with some improvements in rate control), use the 65 number directly, or use RV9@High or RV10@Low.

"EHQ:
65 = Default : improved efficiency for high action
70 = High : same as 65 + better mode decisions, better representation of high motion
80 = Extra High: same as 70 + best possible mode decisions, very high accuracy motion representation
50 = Fast : not recommended, use only for Live capture encoding"
my (wrong) deduction before is:
rv9 ehq 65 = default = normal
rv9 ehq = rv 10
so rv 10 normal (75) = rv9 ehq normal = rv9 ehq 65
so the ehq no. is fixed which I misunderstand it's changed across version.
btw, is 75(rv10 medium) slightly better than 70 (rv9+ehq) from above table?

Come on man, it ain't that hard. :D
RV9 and RV10 is basicly the same codec, and ehq is a complexity slider. The higher the level - the encoding lasts longer and the quality is hopefully better. It's similar to xvid's VHQ modes i suppose.
In RV10 the EHQ slider is defaulted at higher value, that's the difference, but they are same at the same ehq level. (rv9 ehq 75 = rv10 ehq 75).

Someone could write a novell about how EHQ change our lives :D lol

Am I the only one who think that there is an almost desperate need for a new nomenclature?
Edit: And that goes for all codecs.
