View Full Version : DVD Shrink Lock up

Last night I was using DVD Shrink to shrink several DVDs that I had previously ripped to my Hard Drive using DVD Decrypter. After I shrunk the first one I clicked on the Files on Hard Drive button and selected the next disk I wanted to shrink (I had 7 in all.)

After the second one was done, I clicked OK and DVD Shrink Locked up. I had to End the Process in Windows 2000 and start Shrink again every time I wanted to start another. This happened every time after that.

I want to believe it is something in my system that is wrong, since it has been forever since I reinstalled, and I intend on starting fresh as soon as I have the time to do a total re-install (I don't have an up-to-date image anywhere, so it will take a good day or so.)

I was using the latest version 3.1.4 and going from hard drive to hard drive with no disk burning involved.

Any ideas on what I can do to prevent these lock-ups in the future?

did you rip a) ALL files or just b) main movie? It should be b.

I think he means it should be "a" , I am pretty sure you need to rip all files. I rip to an ISO and then mount with a virtual drive and go from there. All files should pretty much do the same thing.

I must not be the only person who rips the entire iso. Never had any problems yet...

This maybe off subject and may not belong here but on the topic on riping and burning, I have never rip to a ISO and then mount it to a virtual drive. I just rip using file mode and then run it through shrink or recode2 or IC8 and it works just fine.

So what is the advantage or reason to mount a ISO over just ripping in file mode?

The advantages are pretty minor (for example, if you use IC on a mounted ISO, IC can preserve any DVD-ROM Extras).

Mostly it's personal preference.

When I decrypted I decrypted all files...I always rip all files, and if I want movie only I do the deed in DVD Shrink because I can do start/end adjustments or add extras as extra titles.

I played with a few RW's and rip a few DVD's into a ISO that where under the size limit for no compression and found I could quickly burn them to disk with dvd-decrypter and didnt have to use any other program :) and so far everything work just fine! and was pretty quick and simple to do!
Think its time to do some more reading and learning and playing around with it:cool:
