Hi there,

I'm looking for a descent mpeg2 encoder for the mac, and I've read a few things about BitVice from Innobits (http://www.innobits.com). I was wondering weither anyone of you guys has tried it, and could tell me what you think of it.

Yours,
Andra

I have only recently begun to get acquainted with the MAC platform. I have been reliably informed, however, that there is nothing for the MAC (in the software-only domain) to quite match the quality of the Windows encoders. Having said that, it is a bit of a drag having to encode on Windows and transfer to MAC for DVD SP2 authoring, so I will await the appearance of BitVice Pro with great interest. Who knows, maybe Innobits will succeed in matching the quality of CCE, TMPGEnc or ProCoder. I don't mean that as a slight against Innobits - I genuinely hope they DO succeed in bringing top quality software MPEG2 encoding to the MAC, since this has been lacking on the platform for far too long. Good luck, Innobits!
