I asked this question in another forum oblivious to the DV forum but I didn't get a response in there so...

I've got the vegas video 4.0 + dvd architect 1.0 package yes 1000 cdn don't ask me why. But is it a good authoring program for doing the dv -> dvd convert? as I really don't want to have to buy another one considering the cost. I bought it becuase I really wanted vegas 4.0 and compared to ulead etc it was by far the best.

(is there any way to find out what audio format is allowed by the authoring program without having to do trial and error?)

also, if anyone other there is a "weathered" vegas 4.0 user let me know I've got a couple questions about editing a video and then playing the video in reverse for a rewind affect.

thanx peeps

I'm sure this information is somewhere in the manual :)

If you set up the rendering with Vegas properly then Architect will not re-encode the video as it won't need to, it will just compile into VOBs.

I use the combination of the two and find them both excellent.

I've never done the reverse thing but I don't suppose it's hard. look in the help file

thanks for the reply, I think I've basically done what you've just mentioned but what do you do with the video_ts and audio_ts folders that are made from dvd authoring because I've tried burning a dvd with it and playing it on my standalone, which has played everything I've created, and it thinks there isn't even a disc in there. Your just preparing and burning the disc right?

mmm

should work.

You couild try burning the created folders with Nero if you have it.

Architect seems to produce files that Nero thinks aren't compliant, which may be your problem if your player is picky.
You can run the folders through DVD2one or DVD shrink (without re-encoding) to produce compliant files and then burn these which may solve the problem.

good call, never thought about that. I'll use cloneDVD, if I can, because that program has given me success in the past.

thanks again bro.
