Pioneer 105, Nero ( all versions ), 4x media, freeze at checking discs

I have the Pioneer 105 DVD burner ( with the latest firmware ) and I have burned over 400 DVDrs with it without any problem BUT whenever I try to burn 4X media ( at whatever speed ) nero freezes at the checking discs stage. My burner doesn't have a problem burning iso images through dvddecrypter at 4X speed on the same media ( Princo and Sony ). Imgtool has the same problem as nero ( since it uses the same engine ), it's quite a time consuming process to make an iso out of everything so I would appreciate any suggestions ( if there are any..). Thanks in advance.

I've read on another forum that the problem might have something to do with the fact that the drive is connected on the M/B secondary controller ( or a pci controller for that matter ) so I will try and switch it with another device and see what happens. I'll post the results later..

well that's what caused the problem after all.. weird bug that one was.. well anyway if you guys have a second controller on your machine avoid connecting your dvd-r there 'cause something like this might happen..

What version of nero are you using? An update may very well fix your problem.
