Problem with Avi Encoding

Hey all!

I am trying to encode a .avi file to mpeg 2 so that I may burn it on a dvd and play it in my player.

The error I get is:

"...can not open, or unsupported"

It's just a standard avi file. Could I reEncode it in virtual dub?Does any have any ideas?

try going into the environmental settings and increasing the priority os directshow
